Not sure if most of you are aware, but there is a fire burning in the White Mountains of Arizona that has burned over 389,000 acres, and is currently zero percent contained. It should easily top 400,000 acres today.

I live a little over 100 miles northeast of this area. Every afternoon, the smoke is so think here that visibility is less than one mile. The sun is a bright red color as seen through the smoke, and the smell of "campfire" is everywhere. It hurts the lungs to be outside for more than a few minutes. You can literally see flakes of ash falling from the sky. I can only imagine what the people of Springerville are going through. Most of the town has been evacuated, except for those who are brave/stupid enough to defend their homes with a garden hose.

The last I heard authorities believe it was started by campers who did not fully extinguish their campfire.:smt021 I watched most of you complain about all the rain in the rest of the country. We sure could use some of that right now.:smt089
