In 1976 my parents bought a brand new 55 foot sumerset houseboat. She was my dads pride and joy.He put the boat on a beatiful mountain lake in West Virginia. We spent every moment possible on the boat for twelve seasons. In the summer of 1988 after spending two weeks on the lake, things went bad.The night we arrived home my father suffered a massive brain stem stroke. It left him totaly paralyzed,he could not speak, only communicate with his eyes.Well here it is 22 years later. My mother has stuck by his side, managed to raise two boys.several years ago I bought a 268 da,that me and my family spend every minute we can on.Iwanted to take my dad back to Summersvile lake, the place he loved. But he was never healthy enough to go.Sadly, he passed away on may 15.He is free now, this weekend I will take his ashes back to the lake one last time before the funeral.

I am sure you will make your father proud!

Yeah...I think there are. Heck of a testament to your mom and family.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry for your loss.

My dad LOVED his Harley. When he passed in 2008, I went out and bought a Harley and now I ride with him and it brings me closer to him.

You will do the same with your boat. When you are on your boat and enjoying your family, your dad will be right there with you.

God bless.

Sorry for your loss, but what a wonderful testament to commmitment and love in your family. True commitment seems a rare thing now I think.

Hopefully boating will continue to bring the same joy and closeness to you family for years to come!

Very sorry to hear about your loss. Your family sounds wonderful. His legacy will live on with you as you pass those same great boating memories on to your children. God Bless

Beautiful story, sorry to hear about your Dad. Lost my Dad nearly 3 years ago to cancer; I can relate to the boating and Harley thing! I now have a boat and own his Harley. Good memories...
