I am planning to replace bearings, races, and seals on my tandem axle trailer in the spring. I want to go with American made bearings and stay away from specifically the Chinese ones. In years past, I have had good success with Timken, never having had one fail.

I can purchase 2-bearings, 2-races, and 1-seal, all made by Timken, on Amazon for $46.28. My local NAPA dealer can order them for about $61 for same. Today, I remembered Rock Auto being discussed here before and decided to check it out. According to their online store, I can purchase the identical items for $15.68. This sounds to good to be true. I plan to call on Monday to verify.

Anybody ever had a bad experience with them? Ever purchased anything that had been misrepresented?

Thanks,
Bennett

Purchased many items from rock auto. Always pleased.

I've purchased from rock auto with no problems.

Never had a problem with them just make sure if you need to return the parts they're in the same condition as received (no grease, oil or ripped packaging) they'll return the parts to you COD or charge a fee for opened parts unless it was their mistake.

I have got a lot of parts from them. Quality always good. The Quicksilver generator parts are hard to get from others. I got engine water pump, timing belt and tensioner. They sourced the parts in England for me. I have got parts for cars from them and always good and they fit.

Rock auto is great and reputable. Frankly, i'm surprised at that price discrepency.

I have bought several items from Rock Auto. Never a problem

they've worked well for me. Just got a new radiator for a Suburban, 97 bucks....

You need to very wary buying bearings and seals over the internet as there have been bulletins out about the chiness flooding the us markets with copy cat bearings and packaging that looks exactly like Timken packaging! The difference is the bearings are not heat treated and don't last very long under loads. Bottom line in this area "you get what you paid for and if its too good to be true it probably is" Rick

I've bought a lot of parts for the cars in our household from Rock Auto and never had a problem. Their prices are great.

I ordered all bearings, races, and seals from Rock Auto. All had Timken stamped on them and made in the USA.

Almost seemed to good to be true, but saved me a ton of money.

Another +1 for Rock Auto, have ordered a number of parts from them, most recently brake pads / rotors for my Lexus, could not believe the price and so far no issues at all.

I have used Rock Auto also without issue....but don't assume they have the lowest prices for everything....just today I was looking at a MAP sensor for my truck....Rock Auto price was $51.....I found it on Amazon for $34.....both are OEM AC Delco parts....plus free 2 day shipping from Amazon since I am a 'Prime' member....

The only issue I had with Rockauto that I had was with an AC Delco oxygen sensor for my Cadillac. The sensor I bought looked like the correct one and was in a AC Delco box but a few days after I installed the sensor, I started getting the same trouble code and Service Engine light. I still had the old sensor and the box on my bench. The box had "Made in US" on it instead of "Made in USA". I called AC Delco and they confirmed that it was a counterfeit part.

Northern, by chance do you have the info still where you got your water pump from?

Their customer service is only fair. They once sent a radiator that was wrong and I had to send pics to get them to tske it back. Foget who paid shipping. Another time they sent only one hood strut so I ordered a second and had to pay shipping twice.
They also offer a lot of duplicate choices for the same part which makes me wonder if they evaluate and stock the parts or just drop ship. That would lead to getting knock offs instead of genuine parts.

Rockauto is essentially the Amazon of auto parts, an internet company that connects the buyer and seller.

Rock auto is great. The pricing difference being so large would concern me.

It is possible that timken has two lines. One being American sourced vs Chinese sourced. Make sure the part number line up exactly. Also could just be a pricing error. Rockauto is usually cheaper but not THAT much cheaper.

They have great shipping too and they send different fridge magnets each month, or used to.
