Aquapoloza July 22 CSR meet and greet

tphinney-

I plan on launching at maximo near the skyway around 9-9:30. I dont have a vhf on my boat, so I will to look for you out there. Had a portable, but it died on me....it was an older unit. I may try to pick one up before Sunday though....even though I dont go very far from land on my 180, you never know when you might need it.

So us all a favor, and get at least a handheld VHF. They are only about $100.

You may even need them for weather - you might need them to avoid other boats, hail a passerby with a fender deployed, let someone know their kid fell of their boat, etc.

Just do it.

if I remember right you seem to miss more boating events do to Softball/Baseball than is socially exceptable. If memory servers me right you missed caladesi either this year or last year because of a game...

You are correct. 3 daughters, all playing softball. One is 13, going into high school, and is very competitive. Next summer, she will be playing college showcase events in other states all summer, and will probably go to a couple of college camps. Next summer will be softball hell.

The middle one is 12, and has just decided to commit to it, to try to follow in her big sister's footsteps. In 2 years, she will be doing what the older one is doing now, if she stays with it.

The youngest one (10) is recreational still at this point - she doesn't feel the love. I don't think she will stay with it at a high level.

I was scheduled to leave Monday to the Keys with Marine Max, but had to cancel when my oldest was invited to play in this World Series event. 35 of the best teams from all over North America - hard to deny her that experience.

While we are gone next week at the World Series, I am having some a/c work done on the forward a/c unit. Once we are back, I am spending a lot of time on the water over the second half of the year.

My wife would love it if I sold this boat, and got something smaller (read - less expensive), because of this softball thing. I probably will have to do that by next summer, if my oldest does what I think she is going to do.

I missed the last couple of Caladesi's due to softball. This year, we had it scheduled such that we could go. 2 days before that event, my mom had a heart attack (OK now).

I am cursed for the big events. If I make it to one, I'll probably bring some sort of freakish bad weather with me. :smt009

You guys have fun, and post up some pics! :thumbsup:

Morpheus;

take the day off and go get you're boat. boating is more important than work :thumbsup:

180 Sport;

ditto on ylwjacket; :smt018 go get a replacement for the VHF cause if you get into trouble at the very least if you have a VHF other boaters can respond and get to you before the coast guard or any other 911 service could. always have "ALL" your safety gear.

I don't mean to be harsh but here's another rescue by the CG in just 2 days.

I read that article this morning when I got to the office....I had already checked a few models online and will pick one one up in before I get out again. Thanks for the reminders though..you are all correct. It shouldnt be overlooked, and I should not put it off.

nothing like a little peer presure to make you do the right thing. For yourself and your passengers.

good to hear 180 sport.

Mission accomplished.........picked up a new handheld today. It has a rechargeable battery pack and ac/dc adapter....should do the trick.

Whoo hooo :smt038

I get my boat back tomorrow. They say it's ready and sitting in the showroom all pretty and clean.

Now to convince the wife to go sunday!

she'll get to meet the people you spend so much time talking to on this message board and realize you're really not having a cyber affiar with some bimbo :grin:

we are all just boat fanatics :smt101 who should have gone into the boat business instead of doing what we do for a living.

or

you could take here out shopping for a new swimsuit on Saturday so that she can show it off on sunday. this one always works for me and yes i did take her shopping for a new suit yesterday.

or

you could tell her it's very important that you take the boat out and use it to make sure the work has been done correctly because if it's not and you don't catchit within 1 weeks time the warrenty won't cover any new work.

i don't know make something up, and come out and play..

also when you pick up the boat make your saleman scrum into give you free cozy's and a free SeaRay Polo for you and your wife. i've pulled this trick several times when Wally was my sales guy.

I like that one, I should somehow test the Auto bilge pump to make sure it works now, I could leave the plug out but that woud be alot of work. Alot of water over the bow would work so I need to jump some wakes or something.

Anyways I'll see what I can do tonight.

HeyTom,

Yes, I'm in Ozona (Marino's Marina), great idea. Let me know when and where. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

:smt013 I will not be able to attend Aquapaloza. One I'm in a vary bad mood and two I left the boat with MM until they can pull their head out of their rear and do the proper job. Service Manager said he would go over it himself and have it detailed. Well here is the list I found.

1. Boat was was filthy even more then when I took it to them and they had it in the show room.
2. All warning stickers are now pealing off for some unknow reason and they were not before I brought it.
3. Still scratches and a chip in the gelcoat.
4. Masterious chuck of dryed gellcoat now on bottom of boat.

I asked what they do for the 20hr service that they normally charge $160+tax for and the guy told me they changed the oil and oil filter and said they look at everything else but don't do anything. That is a total rip, and when I asked for a list of what they did he gave me some bull paperwork with nothing checked off on it and it listed a VHF radio and I don't even have one.

I'm about done with MM service. Are there any options until I can learn to do it myself?

hey morpheus.. is that the service dept in clearwater? the one i went to? if so they are 2 for 2 for filthy work. mine sucked.

Morpheus;

really sorry to hear about the continuing boat issues with clearwater. personnally I think the issue at this place is the service writer a new guy toke over about 2 yr's ago for the service at the dealership and it's been down hill ever since.

as options you might try MM of tampa or the facility at Marker 1 when they get operational for future service, but they are all part of the same company.

I would also ask to have a sit down with the service manager, store manager and sales rep over this continuing lack of respect that they have for a customer who actually bought a boat when sales are so bad accross the industry. tell them straight up you want you're boat by X date, you want it in emaculate condition and if you don't get it the next time they hear from you it will be via certified letter from your lawyer.

this would be about the time that I would threatend to drag the Marine Max name through the mud and call baynews 9.

it's time to get mad and get mean.

I think your right. I've already contacted Sea Ray directly before the Service Manager assured me he would make it right so I put them on hold so I think I'll give them a call too and see what they say.

Yea he made the bill $0 but I was ready to pay for all the work I just wanted it done correctly and to have my boat back as I expected it to be.

I told my Sales guy today he got tight lipped about the whole thing all he said was he asked and that was it as if either he was told to keep his mouth shut or he had nothing nice to day and didn't wanna be ugly about the company he works for but he did seem concerned.

So far the only nice thing about them so far is I did get a good deal on the boat and I think my sales guy is the best and would buy from him again but so far I don't think I would want to deal with the rest of them there ever again which sucks cause I like the sales guy.
