This year's signature event is on our local lake. If you have had one of these in your area, you already know the amount of buzz and excitement created by the expectation of a huge water party, thousands of boats, and all that goes with it.

But the closer it gets, the more we wonder if we want to attend... The local dealer tells us that they are reserving the first three rows for Sea Ray boats only - so getting a good spot should not be a problem.

We would love to be a part of this event - but...we're concerned. Our lake (like most lakes) has a pretty significant "party cove" population, not to mention the free-wheelin' Austin lifestyle (complete with a clothing optional state park on our shores). Will Sea Ray be able to maintain a family oriented atmosphere here? Will they even try? Will they even need to worry about it?

I'm looking for feedback from any of you that have attended similar signature events. Was it well organized? Did it remain family oriented? How much of a cluster was it getting rafted up? How long and painful was the un-rafting process?

With several thousand boats - we know that once we are in place and rafted up - we are there for the duration. We do plan to take the jet ski with us so that we can run back to the dock if need be. But clearly we won't want to leave the boat there unattended for long (and not at all during the actual event).

So? How was it? Would you do it again? Would you take your 9 year old with you?

Appreciate any thoughts and feedback to help my wife and I decide - as the date is fast approaching!

Never been to an AP but did view Allen Jackson AP on Lake Martin video I doubt it's the best place for a 9 yr old...certainly not the worst. Shuffle him/her off with friends with kids & enjoy AP adult style. We're planning on observing the party from the perimeter & leaving early. We're not big country music fans plus we don't want to be held "captive" in the largest raftup in LT history....Devils Cove at its worst, then add steroids. I do suspect the eye candy will be everywhere & flaunting it. LT is not the safest lake on any given weekend & with the influx of out of town boaters, party apmosphere & the inevitable alcohol consumption, the evening of July 10th will be some degree more dangerous. SeaTow & the cops are ramping up for it.

FYI...historically early July, more than any other period, has the greatest chance of the lake being closed by the LCRA due to flooding. All eyes are on TD Alex after it makes landfall in Mexico in 48 hrs, could be a major rain maker over the 4th.
