"THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SEVERE WEATHER ON SUNDAY...PARTICULARLY
OVER LAKE ST CLAIR AND WESTERN LAKE ERIE."

Looks like I might sit this one out, anyone else sitting this one out due to the wonderful weather forecast? Since I have to trailer the boat about 70 miles to get there, I don't think it'll be worth it.

Stupid weather!

We cruised over to see the Aquapalooza site on Saturday morning. I wish they would have had it then. There were a few boats already anchored off MacRay, so we cruised around and spent the night on the hook at Strawberry Island,...big mistake. It was beautiful there Sat. but the winds developed overnight. So back at Algonac now; I know a few of the S.R.'s are attending and it's still overcast as of 1030 but forecast says improvement (although they lied about last night). Hopefully it should be well attended.

The weather gods are smiling. Sunny and hot; should be great attendance.

How was the turnout?

Wanted to go, but my son wanted to play golf...

It was all good!

We decided to pack up the boat and head out after listening to the weather man. We live about 1 hour west of Lake St. Clair, we could see that it was clearing up out this way so we decided to take our chances.

We got there a little late and when we were getting the boat ready at the launch I noticed that the outboard had come dissconnected from power tilt. Luckily I had the support lever down but the outboard fell back into the "well" (or whatever its called) so there was no real damage except for some scuff marks. I was lucky not to lose the large pin that connects the trim to the outboard...it was dangling there just ready to fall out though. Hit a hardware store and got a cotter pin for $.50 and fixed it right up.

As for the event, we missed the games but overall it wasn't (or didn't seem) as nice as last years out at Gull Island. We left at around 3:30pm and headed for the Detroit river front. It wasn't the smoothest ride in my little boat but it was by far the longest cruise we've ever done (64 miles round trip). Stopped at Jacks restaurant on the way back (bad food all-around the table) and then headed for the dock at about 8:00pm.

So, as you can see, it was a bad start to what turned out to be an excellent day! Oh, and I underestimated the distance from my house to the lake, it was a 97 mile trip (one way) and worth every mile.
