Aquapalooza 2009 - Cayo Costa, FL

Gasparilla has indoor now too. That's why I'm looking at both. There are things I like about both and things I don't like so it's gonna be a hard sell.

Both want $12 a foot at the moment but gonna see if that is negotiable.

I'd love to hear your feed back on dry storing inside since it's all new to me.

I went from storing my 260 inside to having my 300 outside and was expecting the boat to be a lot dirtier when I went to it. In reality it was much cleaner! Seems, in my case, there was a lot of diesel soot from the forklift trapped inside that settled on the boat. Easily rinsed off but still a pain. Also birds were more prevelant inside as I guess they roosted there so their "marks" were more of an issue than when stored outside. I think the rains actually helped some to "rinse" the bird droppings away when outside stored. Also I'm on a bottom rack outside so if you have a boat above you it gets a little sun protection. Now if you have a "leaker" above you that's an issue but applies whether you're inside or outside. I do have a full cockpit cover and would recommend that regardless of where you store.

Hope the info is helpful. It may not all apply in your case but stuff to ponder..... Good luck.

BTW....I'd love to get $12 / ft. I think I'm paying $14 at New Pass in Sarasota.

My apologies to ChuckW and others......did not mean to hijack the thread with boat storage talk.......sorry I missed the Cayo Costa event. Sounds like it was a hoot.

There is plenty of water if you know the way in. Here is a map with a route to the mooring field. Basically keep tight to the shoreline to the NW as you approach, the middle of the pass only carries 2-3 ft at low water, but you'll have 6-8' close to the beach. As you pass by the "Beach" (see the umbrella) you can ease away from the shore. From there in the charts are fairly accurate.

I've seen upwards of 50+ boats in there, big ones up to 80' and deep draft sail boats. You'll anchor in 6-8' of water with a mostly sand and some seagrass at the bottom. Once inside the mooring field the only winds that can kick it up a bit would be out of the SE. Other than that, she is dead calm.

Thanks!

Not a problem. No worries.

Thanks.
