We have finalized the dates for an Apostle Islands cruise. This will be a Sunday - Saturday cruise to allow a weekend day of travel on both ends. Some friends in Minneapolis just upgraded to a '95 250DA just for this cruise so 2 boats so far.

We have some books and other info on the islands and will be planning an tentative itinerary to include several overnight stays in transient slips on Madeleine Island, Bayfield, and possibly another location as well as overnights at beach anchorages and island docks. Activities will include day cruises/sightseeing/photography/trout fishing as well as island hiking/sightseeing/lighthouse tours.

We'd love to have a few other similar boats join us. This is a great opportunity for an adventurous weeklong cruise on Superior that you probably wouldn't take alone. We joined some friends for a short weekend cruise of the Apostles a few years ago on their 20' Baja and it was the best time I ever had on the water.

Post here if you are interested and I'll add more info.

Three boats going now. Our 25 Sorrento, the 250DA from Minneapolis, and a Baja 290 OS from Madison. There will be a MarineMax Getaway and a Poker Run on the weekends, and during the week we have cruises to Duluth and the Black river planned.

Bayfield and the Apostle Islands would be a fun trip. Maybe some day when I have something bigger than a 185 ...

Best vacation ever! Everybody in range needs to make this trip someday.

I'm sorry we missed you! I haven't been checking the board much this summer...

Our trip was 19-22/25-31 July. (I had to work Monday and Tuesday) Beautiful weather, great friends and some great boating. Our friends have 18' IO bowriders (Larson and Bayliner) so they camped at Buffalo Bay campground, and we got a slip at the attached marina.

Went snorkeling at the rock cribs off Hermit and the wreck in Julian Bay off Stockton, toured the newly remodeled Raspberry Lighthouse and burned lots of fossil fuel! Of course it wasn't all good as my wife fell climbing rocks on Stockton on Monday the 30th and broke her arm in 2 places. She's much better now, healing nicely...

Anyway, next year we'll have to see if the vacations line up again and try to meet up!

Jim

P.S. Kilroy, a 180 would do just fine as long as you keep an eye to the weather and an ear to the radio. Traveling with other boats makes it safer too. Before this year we did the same trip (including a run all the way to the lighthouse on Outer) in a 14' SugarSand jetboat!

Sorry to hear about your wife's accident Jim. Hope she is better soon.

Maybe next year we can get all the boats together and then some. There definitely was a lot we didn't see, and some places we would have loved to spend more time.

Sure sounds like fun. I'll have to start working on my other half immediately... :smt001
