Anyone Going?
We will be venturing up the intercoastal to Apalachicola, Florida for this year's Florida Seafood Festival, November 6th and 7th.
If you love fresh fish and oysters this is your Mecca! The weather will be comfortable for Northwest Florida with lots of entertainment, food, events and shopping.
We don't have a radio but we would love to hear if anyone is going. All Sea Rays dock at Scipio Creek Marina adjacent to the downtown area and in the midst of the Festival. Check out the event online.

I'm SOOO jealous! We love Appalachacola! Rented weekly for many years on St. George Island. Always wanted to make the seafood festival, but it never worked out. Eat a bunch of shrimp and a few "ursters" for us!

I'll be there with Aarrh and Aarrh, and about 10 other couples.

For some reason, St. George island didn't work out well for us. Maybe it was the dog walking out of the kitchen of the restaraunt on the beach right after we finished eating there.:wow:

But I did love going to the kiosks that opened every day at about 4:00 getting fresh prawns right from the boat for $0.25 apiece. Marinated them for an hour and put them on the grill.:smt038 Oh man, you just can't duplicate that in Missouri.:smt089

That and dinner at the Gibson inn was awesome. But we didn't like it enough to quit going to Sanibel...

Have fun and take lots of pix, I'm alread jealous.

You got queezy because a dog walked out of the kitchen? I take you don't have a dog in the house? My dog sits next to me when I am cooking in my kitchen waiting for me to have a oops moment and drop him a treat. I would be more worried if it were a rat or cat I saw walking out of the kitchen. They get up on the counter and into stuff.

Can't go to the sea food festival this year, but its great!

I've had dogs my whole life. It's different when it's your dog and you're in the kitchen with them. The big a$$ german shepard we had when I was growing up ate 5 pounds of swedish meet balls right out of the pot on the stove one Christmas Eve while we were in the basement. So I know that dogs can get into stuff on the counter when you're not watching. And it didn't make me quesy, just gave me a pause.

 I had a shepard too! They love their swedish meatballs. Mine was just as sneaky. :smt043

I know the larger boats can get into "Boss Oyster" but smaller boats can and they have good eats there.

Richard, Do you know if you can overnight your boat at the River Inn Docks?

If I leave now I can be there by 3:30 giving traffic consideration. Of course there would have to be some fee's involved.

I've got you covered buddy:thumbsup::grin:

I was not asking for the festival weekend but you know I've always wanted to do a Chat./Apal. river trip.

Chuck, you don't want to go down the Apalachicola River, way to many rocks. It has not been dredged in years due to no funding by any administration. No way I would want my boat in that river. :smt009

Chuck,

There is a new and very nice but economical hotel on the river just south of Scipio Creek Marina. They also have new concrete floating piers/slips for guests. We were offered a tour last fall and took them up on it. Quite upscale for Alalachicola and I couldn't believe the prices or how nice the employees and mgt were.

Thanks for info guys. One of these days I'm going to make it back down that way.
Frank would that be the Water Street Hotel you were talking about?

Got my parents into the Gibson Inn in a 2nd floor King Room due to a cancellation. They will drive from Tampa to the Scipio creek marina and park. I'm going to pick them up by car, bring them to Panama City, and we'll spend the night. The next AM, all four of us will cruise from PC to Apalachicola. We'll have their car at the marina, a dinghy on our boat, and we'll be able to visit, drive, share good times but not share a cabin....

It should be awesome!
