Anyone use the Troll Control feature on Smartcraft?

This feature is sort of neat but aside from a fisherman wanting to use it, is there any other use for it? :smt017 :smt017

I did when I first got it but it got turned off some how last summer in a recalibration and I never bothered to get it turned back on. :grin:

To engage the Troll Control, press either the Troll+ or Troll- buttons. That brings up the display on your gauge. Then press the MODE button and that will engage it. You can then vary the speed up or down using the Troll buttons To disengage it, press the MODE button again. or move your throttle to a different postion or into neutral.

The buttons are on the Smartcraft system tach. There are three buttons, + and - on the left a right, Mode in the middle.


I think the only real use is for trolling while fishing. Being able to dial in a specific speed is nice. It is somewhat limited, as there is a maximum RPM for the feature. Sometimes that speed is below what I need. It would be better for me if I could put in a specific speed instead of an RPM.

The buttons should be on your Tach or Speedometer and will look like this.

If the 5000 is the unit that uses a separate monitor to display functions, it may not be available. In looking at the Smartcraft Manual, the feature is not mentioned at all if you have the monitor.

I have the 5000 System View and used it a few times last summer.
Being off the boat going on 5 months I couldn't tell you what sequence to push the buttons...I was able to use it after looking it up in the 5000 manual. Its a nice feature for fishing or a cocktail cruise :thumbsup:
