Looking for advice on if an engine needs to come out or just an exhaust manifold and other exhaust tubes... any advice would be appreciated...

My Onan diesel gen weighs 600 pounds and I’m guessing your gas gen weighs pretty much the same. Knowing how big the 8.1 is, I’d say one of them probably has to come out unless you have a real lot of room. Also, I just paid for a manifold replacement this spring and I have to believe the cost of pulling an engine will be cheaper than trying to dismantle parts in place. In addition keep in mind pulling the engine will have less impact than dismantling.
