Anyone remember these??

Many years ago i seen a couple in Michigan going into an inland lake. They are very slow but they work.

When I was a kid there was a white one in Westport, but I have not seen this one on the Housatonic.

There is a new amphibious car coming onto the market in a year or two. It does 30 knots on the water with jet drive. Looks like fun!

He goes in by Sunnyside and will run to the island just north of Beacon Point. He drives up on the beach and hangs out for a while, then back to Sunnyside.

He runs up by Indian Wells a lot also.

There is one stored on a big Fedship in Frankfort, Michigan. Popular Mechanics did a story on them when they first came out. I remember one sentence in particular. "This is not a very good car and it makes an even worse boat."

I'm in the Power Squadron up here and did a vessel safety check on one last year. After, the owner took us out for a ride. I hope its a better car than boat  But it was a fun ride.

We have a club around here that brings them out every "Opening Day of Boating Season"

big article on these babies in the most recent issue of BOAT/US magazine. great pics Nehallania. i've never seen one in person. they always look like one of those weather channel photos of some flooded area with cars stuck and sunk in the middle of the flood!

I recently saw (on TV) a guy that builds full size RV's that go on the road and on a lake. They have pontoons that come out of the side, and use the same engine for both operations, just different transmissions. They are very, very luxurious and will be available for marketing soon.

They look like someone drove their RV into the lake, which they did.
