Its probably your remote oil drain. I have them on my 280. It allows you to drain the oil from your engine. I have two drain plugs on my boat. I don't know how many you have. Run the boat to normal temperature. remove drain plug and place hose in oil container. Its a little slow but it works. I only use this whe Ihave the boat out of the water and putting the boat up for the winter.

The above is correct. One engine = one drain hose. Originally it would have been attached to the garboard drain plug via a tether so you can pull it through the garboard drain. To use it... either fish it through, get a new tether or use an oil sucker from inside the boat.

Would have nothing to do with engine starting. You didn't mention any details about "how" the engine didn't start... but the first thing to check is your kill switch.

Thanks, i was out fishing in the ocean, decided to shut the engine off and tried starting it again, it would crank, but would not turn over. I checked the kill switch, but still no luck.

Had to get towed back, and while I was docked, took a look around, but couldn't find anything besides that oil drain hose, which i thought got loose and might have caused her not to start.

What exactly happens with the “no start”?

Does the starter engage and spin the motor?

Yes starter engages and spins the motor, gonna check the plugs and wires tomorrow, anything else I should check?
