2006 380 Sundancer, this little LED light is in the main control panel at the top . I bought the boat last year and it didnt work then . I unscrewed it and it looks to be hardwired in.

did you put a voltage tester on the wires to make sure it's not a connection or switch issue?
The wires run right into the light fixture...theres no way of troubleshooting unless i cut them . Theres like a half inch of slack .

I had the same issue and the same concern. I took the chance that the bulb was bad instead of the wiring. So I took the leap and cut the wires and replaced the bulb. Fontuntaly for me it was the bulb. I found it on line for 5 or 10 bucks.

Uuhhhh....it's a $4.00 sealed LED accent light. There are no bulbs to change. You remove the screws, pull the light out as far as you can, snip the leads (wires) and splice in a new one. Before you splice in the new one I would put a tester on it to see if there is power.

Your best bet would be to find access to the backside of the panel its attached to and approach the replacement from there. If you can't find a replacement light let me know....I have a half dozen of the laying around. I'll sell them to you.

Thanks everyone . I ended up just cutting the wires and figured out the bulbs are burnt out on the fixture. Gonna pickup a new one this week

Mine go on with the cabin lights and stay on. If yours is the same maybe wire in a contact switch to turn them off when the cabinet is closed while you are at it.

The Non contact AC detectors work great. I've never seen a true non contact DC voltage detector, not sure how that would even work, since the AC ones depend on an induced voltage to work, which wouldn't exist for DC, although I'm going back to college days electrical engineering at this point, and many moons have passed. Does anyone actually have a DC version that works without contact? That would be nice with all the low voltage DC on the boat for sure.

I replaced that same light this year, cut the wires to remove, bought a larger led light to replace, lots of light in the panel now. I waited so long to replace I forgot it was step lights that turned it on.
