Anyone ever hear of a 340 camper top?

Only thoughts here...... Not sure if available from factory, but definately
can be made. I would not want a 340 without one.

Nice one I pass by everyday, but no camper here either.

None available from the factory thus all are custom built. Our design is as good as I've seen using a custom rear bimini attached to the factory rear bib to give the overhead coverage. Then side curtains are zipped on in the winter giving a huge sun room affect.

The newer 340's radar arch & rear bib are more narrow than the stern, maybe 6" a side thus to get descent overhead coverage the custom rear structure has to flare to the rear. This allows the rear curtains to fall vertially & be snapped to the hull just below the anti-skid. Remember to design a way to exit thru one or both side curtains to gain access to the bow.

There's another style that removes the factory rear bib & adds a horizontal perimeter tubing structure all the way back to the transom that has two vertical legs attached to the gunwales. Very clean & attractive. I could not get our canvas guy to touch it...he does biminis OK & did not want to attempt my initial design. And being the only canvas guy in town...

You should have little trouble finding a good shop in NJ. We, being on a lake in the middle of the desert, have only one option on Lake Travis.

Search my name. I have been posting about this for months.

John,
You beat me to it. I was going to tell him to search for you.

on the signature you can see ours, it was custom made. I like this design as it follows the shape of the stern. Some are more straight up from the back seats, which gives more room but does not follow the stern hatch. Its a matter of preference.

The top actually has windows and screens on all three sides, the pic is not that clear. The windows also roll down that way they are out of the way when the window is open.
There is one bow on the arch that extends the top aft about 40 inches ( this is from memory) and a up and down rod that attaches about 10 inches from the rear of the gunnal. That gives support.
Its a sporty look but also gives lots of interior space. The boat is away right now but will be coming out next week if you want more pics let me know. I can send you whatever you like.

what did it cost? Well it depends who is asking (ha, ha) if my wife is asking it was $2,000 but the truth was closer to $5,000 (or 5 boat dollars). Prices are all over the place for sure and this is in Canadian Dollars.

I would be happy to take some better pics but it will have to wait until the boat comes out of storage. That should happen next week.

I will look around my pic and see if I some better pics and send them to you.

I want something kinda like this

I would like it a little more rounded in the back, and a little more curved from the arch back. I have been unable to find anyone around willing to do it for me so I'm holding off until I can find a DIY yard to haul the boat out and make the framework myself. Everyone says they can cover it with canvas if I can get the framework made. I can make the framework, but need the bender near the boat. My JD2 tubing bender needs a very solid mount and I can't do it dockside. Just have to wait awhile I guess. When I do get around to it, I'll make a template to where an exact copy of the frame could be made in about 30 min for anyone else who likes it.

Again, just what I want. And I assume you can have both the window and screen open to facilitate getting up to the bow? I ask because I am used to the camper top on the 290, the 290 is a walkthrough windshield design.

Yes to get to go forward for docking the side panel unzips and when you are moving it just zips up again and you are off. If I was doing it again I would reinforce the clips on the bottom seam that attache to the boat. At cruising speed it can flap around and come ripped. The other thing I would do is make sure the canvas shop seals the bottom joins otherwise water leaks in around the screen. We had our 'touched up' over the winter.
Also, we did not go with the rubber backed canvas for the ceiling panels. I was concerned about mould so I use the same canvas all the way around. I like it since there is not mould which is great when you get to the boat after it has sat for a week. The down side is that in heavy thunderstorm the water mists inside cockpit. But its really has to be raining for that to happen.

Any other questions please feel free to ask.
