Anyone else with a 1988 SeaRay Sorrento S24?

Good morning Ataylor!

I am new to the site, just joined this week but have spent alot of time reading different threads and I can tell you everyone on here is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I grew up on Sea Rays as well, dating back to our first Sea Ray in 1976. I have not had an S24 but have had 2 220's a little older than what your are looking at. I also have worked in the boat business for over 10 years and have a pretty good idea how the boat you are looking at will perform with the 5.7 Merc.

For skiing, I think you need to figure that you will still be drug for a while. Just be sure you look into propping the boat correctly for your use. YOu may need a little smaller pitch to plane off a little quicker. Just watch top end RPM's. There will be more bow rise than your seville may have had , but I would bet that this boat has trim tabs which will help.

As far as parts are concerned, mehanically it should not be too terrible to find parts. The question will be what the boat may need specifically to the S24. You are in the right place and I would not be worried at all about the age of the boat. You will have a classic ride with gorgeous lines for a whole lot less invested than most everyone else on the water! Enjoy!

I am also new to this site. I just purchased a 88 Sorrento (green/white) which is in great shape. We just spent a week on Bull Shoals Lake in arkansas and I love the boat. The 350 mercruiser ran great but I am preparing to upgrade the engine to a 383 Stroker for better torque and a little more HP.

Jeff. I also just purchased the same boat. There is an owners manual you can download on Sea Rays website. You have to google 88 Sea Ray Sorrento owners manual. It will show you Sea Rays web site. You have to scroll down the page it gives you options for if you need need years older than what they offer. Once you find it the options are Sorrento and Sorrento S25. Pick just Sorrento. Apparently they offered the same manual for the 19, 20 and 24. It's breaks it down in the manual what applies to you. Hope this helps..

Hi

I just bought a 1991 Sorrento and put on a customized Bimini top with all sides. I only get 39 mile per hour at 4100 with a 19 pitch prop. Does that sound correct? I cannot get high rpm's.
