So I buy the boat at the begining of the summer and I can't work on it!!! I am stuck in Midland for the summer while I am interning at an oil company and my boat is at the house in Lubbock :smt089 I would love nothing more than to wax or work on the boat. We have been taking it out almost every other weekend enjoying the heck out of it but I don't have time to give it the TLC it deserves. Everytime I suggest working on the boat the gf would rather me drop her off at the dentist first :smt009 ........and to make matters worse there was a complication with the title stopping me from registering the boat, wife (who's name was on the title) forgot to sign it, and yours truely failed to notice when he took possession of the boat :smt021 Luckily I purchased the boat from a friend of a friend and he just told me to fedex them and he would get it signed. I am crossing my fingers they arrive tomorrow so I can at least enjoy the boat this weekend.

Sorry for the semi-rant. Just envious of you all who see your boat daily and those of you who get to take it to work, you make me sick with envy.

Yeah. . .I have the similar problem.

Except I bought my boat on the way BACK from a field assignment, not on the way TO an assignment. Works much better that way.

Off season maintenance (with the boat more than an hour from the house) is a nightmare. Darn dentists :smt013

I just got back home from final inspection for selling ours, so this time next week I'll be boatless (looking hard for the replacement mind you) and I dare not take it out and have something happens until I get paid. I'm envious you get to go out; good on ya.

I'm in the process of trading in my boat and I can't use my current boat for fear of putting a ding in her. I can't use the new boat 'cause it's not mine, yet :smt013

I feel your pain.

Graham,
since you can't boat how about you put you boat info in the signature line! If you have any pictures please post them for us all to see.

Gotta Go, off to the boat! j/k have a soccer tournament this weekend!

You want pain HAHA

How about buying a BRAND NEW boat and it have some air voids and non-skid blemishes that the dealer tells you they will take care of that at your 20hr service.

20hr's later you also find that the auto bildge pump don't work and you've put a scrap on the boat from a concrete dock you want fixed.

So you take it in to have this work done at around June 1st and 1.5 months later you still don't have your boat back.

I've missed many weekends I could of used it. :smt013

Yea, I have been meaning to do that. But honestly I haven't gotten any great photos of it and I am anal when it comes to photos. I have 4 times invested in camera gear than what I paid for my boat :smt017 I hope that the gf will let me spend a little time pampering the boat instead of her. If so I will be sure to post some more photos of the clean-up progress. If I can I would like to squeeze a clay + 3 stage wax/polish in this weekend. It would make next week in the office sooooo much more tolerable.

Here are some photos of it when I just got it.....this is before ANY cleaning: http://www.byowneryachts.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3828 Unfor I will be rebuilding the floor on it this winter with a friend. Apparently when the 3rd piston blew up on the previous owner it flooded the ski locker with oil.....needless to say skis don't go down there right now.

Oh, and Morpheus......that is just rediculous. You should not be having those issues with a new boat.

Graham

you must be picky! The one of the GF driving and the closeup from the front are both good pictures to post. put in you comments in the virtual marina some of your plans for clean up and fixing.

boat looks pretty good for 12 years old. How did the seat cleaning go?

Seat cleaning went well, only did the first stage on it, I hope to go get the 303 this weekend for a final cleaning/protectant. Here are a couple photos of it but I hope to get a ton more up on my website to document the cleaning/restoration process. Do i dare say I have hopes to do some custom interior work with my friend :smt101 I would love side bench seats with storage underneath for a cooler and lifejackets !!

Here are the few cleaning photos:

Talk about being stuck. We bought this boat in March because of the deal and we knew we are relocating to South Fl. It's about an hour from the house. We got it dry docked because the price is right for now FREE. She won't see water again til we move. I would have put her in water, but the lake won't allow any boats with bathrooms. I put a portable air conditioner in the cabin and it runs 24/7. We do go and check on her every other week or so and clean and do other odds and ends. I am getting ready to bottom paint her now so she will be ready when we move and all I have to do is hire a capitan to show us everything.( Our first boat.) I did take off the blue tarps and put on the Helm cover tho. This really gives us somthing to look foward to. All we are waiting for is our house to sell and were history.

Well, the weekend came and went, and the boat stayed on the trailer. Paperwork never arrived via Fedex......they probably didn't want to spend the few extra $$ on overnighting it, even when I overnighted it to them, sigh. Made it clear to the gf that I was going to spend a few hours at least doing something to the boat, was just about to walk out the door to purchase the goodies (clay and 3 stage), and BAM it was raining harder than I have seen it rain in months. I mean it was so bad that I had gallons of water I had to scoop out of the boat cover. So, I guess I can't say I didn't do ANYTHING to the boat since I did empty water.....but that wasn't what I had in mind.

I guess looking at the bright side I will order the cleaning supplies via the trusty internet and save myself ~$25.

So here I sit at my desk dreaming of other things I want to purchase for the boat......the more hours at the desk the longer the list gets.

Hope all had a good weekend.

I had a 1995 220OV. It was my second boat after a 1991 180BR. It's a really nice boat, you should have a blast.

Congrats and again welcome to the club!
