Anyone docking in saginaw bay area

We'll be docking our boat at Bay Harbor after I get back from Florida this weekend. We like swimming in the shallower water near the Bay City State Park (6 year old daughter and 5 month old son) but we hope to enjoy the occasional trip to Caseville or similar. We'd love to have some swimming/play friends in the area!

Welcome baileydogg we swim there too, dock at sunset shores yacht club.Did you check the fishing report thread ? Some of us are trying to get an informal fishing tournament going for the saggybayers.Glen

Come to Bay Port (after the dredging is complete) and eat at the Bay Port Hotel. (food, booze, and rooms)

Thanks! I used to fish Saginaw Bay quite a bit, including some of the amateur walleye tournaments (like the Au Gres Sims Fire Department one) and am looking forward to doing it again. I'll check that thread out.

I haven't been to Bay Port in years. When is the dredging scheduled to be completed?

Say banagy are you going to be around next weekend ? We are thinking of coming up to bayport to eat and also we used to dock in sebawaing and want to see the mess mom nature left behind last week.We know the marina manager robert anderson had a plane at the airport there and want to see if it made it ok.Mabey we could meet for lunch or dinner saturday or sunday,After that we are thinking about a trip to presque isle by boat on monday if the weather looks good.Glen

Darn, the wife and I are going to be in Beverly Hills next weekend on Saturday and Sunday for our fourth grandchild. I know Bob, we were on the Shallow harbor committee to try to obtain funds for shallow harbor dredging. One hanger was completely destroyed the other heavly damaged from straoght line winds.

Finally made it up this weekend. It's been over a month since I've seen the boat and two since I've been out on her:smt100. Needless to say the summer hasn't worked out as I had planned. I did however get to put up the camper canvas for the first time considering the weather and realized there is a curtain I've never seen before. It's like a half enclosure where it attaches right behind the helm leaving the balk half of the cockpit open. That one is a first for me. Anyways, crap weather aside I'm enjoying the weekend, headed home Monday night, then who knows, maybe back up later this week. Considering my lack of time up here this summer I'm thinking about moving to the boat for the rest of the summer!! If I do, I'll keep you guys posted so you can feel free to stop by and I'll buy you a brew

Figures i stopped by saturday on the way to the fish sandwich in bayport.I did meet up with banagy though while there. When is the fishing tournament getaway?

acb4boss, That sounds like a drop curtain you have there. Those are awesome to have especially for spring and fall fishing. That will keep the cockpit warm and out of the wind, yet allow you to get back to the rods while fishing. I'm actually making one of those right now for my boat. Just need to get the sewing machine deal figured out... I have all of the material, but my sewing machine won't handle the thicker thread.

Glenn,
Not sure if I can get anything together this year. August is booked and in September the kids go back to school and the wife starts her new teaching job. She stayed home when we started having kids. Now, after 9 yrs, she's going back to teaching. It will be great to have a second income, but it's gonna be pretty busy from here on out.

We just got back from spending the weekend in Ludington. Harbor View Marina is the cats butt for amenities! We never landed a salmon, but had a couple hooked up on Saturday morning. I brought the boat back home, but I'll be running it up to Frankfort next weekend for the rest of the month. We are fishing the Benzy Frenzy salmon tourney the end of August.

Got about 100 hrs on the the ole girl this year and she's running fantastic!!

Well mabey next year we can get all of us to take out a vet like you did and have a little side tourney at the same time eh?

That is a for sure Glen. My crew from this year has already requested me for next year. That event is just awesome and I won't miss it.

Glenn, hope the fish sandwich was up to par. I like the orginal the best. Nice talking to you
glenn

Bill ,it was nice to meet someone from the saggy bayers finally, although i have seen getaway driving by the ice cream shop before and took a ride through lindys to look at acb4boss boat twice.I think we should all take a vet out fishing next year whith getaway ,mabey even recruit a few more searay owners to go along as it would be a great day on the water for all involved.Hope you had a good fish sandwich and hope they can get more vendors involved next year as it is a major bussines staple for the area. Also hope for the dredge work to be a hit for the area.Glen

Everyone still with us this year? I'm in, still @ Lindy's in slip 4. Glen, drop me a PM when you're headed up and we can coordinate and meet up sometime!

I just decommissioned the "F/V Getaway" to family/marina life "Getaway".

I'm at Wheelers Landing from 6/8 thru 7/8. Docked right next to the pool in plain sight of the Bay City fireworks.

Then, I'll be recommissioning the boat back to "F/V Getaway" and reloading the salmon gear for battles in Lake Michigan. We will keep it at the City docks in Frankfort for the month of August.

I am here ,we spent the last 3 weekends (4 days for the holiday) on the boat.Fished sunday caught three but only one 24" keeper,he was tasty last night on te grill.will be up again this weekend i think,we just bought our last christmases presents and they are waiting to be ridden around baycity on the bike paths.I am still in slip 37 at sunset shores, hope to fish this weekend one day .It got a bit windy sunday and it wasnt a pleasant ride in from the east,i hate having to get used to the boat every spring, and the waves to the aft corner are the worst, the fiance thought we were sinking ,i think i was going to slow and it does make it feel wierd.I just hate beating an old boat through the waves,Ill get it right next time just plane and go faster than the waves.Acb4boss we should get togeather for dinner one weekend are you staying on the boat weekends now?there is a boating garage sale this saturday at baycity yacht club if anyone is interested also.Glen

I haven't solidified any plans for the weekend, but a boating garage sale you say.....hmm???? I can't think of anything I need, but hey I'll probably know it when I see it! I spent the holiday weekend aboard her, mom came down Friday Night (she lives in Marquette), then a friend came up Saturday, and then the admiral was over Sunday. Could have lived with out some of the weather, but all in all a productive weekend of cleaning. It's been a busy year (remodeled my entire house!) and the spring thus far has been crazy busy! I'll definately get back to you later in the week if I decide to come up though. ~ Al

Hi Saggy Bayers. Just wanted to say "hello". We were in MI last week for a vacation and spent some time on a PWC at Point Lookout. I grew up in Saginaw but had a cottage at the Point. Nice to get back there again. Great area to boat in, lots of places to go and some good fishing. I ate more than my share of Walleye and Perch and loved it.

Usually boat out of Caseville & do hang out around the Charity island occasionally. Always a good crowd of boats anchored up be the beach on nice weekends. I am usually on the water over in that area if the waves are decent.
