Any SLX owners have shore power, refrigerator, and Guest 5/5 battery charger?

Time to change them. Batteries sitting uncharged ruin quickly.
Need at least 825 MCA according to the manual. Some group size 31 meet that, some don't. Make sure you check the specs.

Looks like I'm swapping them for either Interstate Pro-29M or Optima 8052-161 D31M.

Questions:
1) Any thoughts as to which one would be better?
2) Do deep cycles last longer if they are hooked up to a float charger like we have on our boats?

I do not see the value of agm or gel batteries for a power boat. I get 6 years out of Deka flooded cells, so I believe flooded cells are the best bang for your buck.

Read the manual on your charger, not sure if it supports optima type batteries.

If you buy good flooded cell (interstate, Deka, etc) battery, you will be in good shape. Optima = twice the price, but they do not last twice as long or provide twice the battery run time.

I had the original (!) batteries in my 2002 Larson when I sold it a couple months ago. Maintenance is key to a long life. Solar trickle charger in the summer, and plugged in when in the barn for the winter. I never allowed them to be discharged.

For future readers of the post, the Guest 10/10 charger manual is located here and states
THIS CHARGER SHOULD BE USED TO CHARGE ONLY LEAD ACID, AGM, ORGEL CELL TYPE BATTERIES. USE ON OTHER BATTERY TYPES MAY CAUSEAN EXPLOSION OR PERSONAL INJURY.

Also note for all Guest chargers:

Please be sure the DC system to which the charger is connected is not drawing excessive current from the battery for extended periods of time while the charger is operating. This isimportant to ensure the charger correctly transitions through each charging stage to finish withthe float voltage level. If the DC system is drawing continuous current while charging, reducedlife or damage to the battery may occur

As as discussed earlier, you can't run your refrigerator while connected to shore power and using the guest chargers.
