Any San Francisco area boaters? Or visited?

For our wedding anniversary, I am surprising my wife with a couple days out in California. I was previously considering spending a couple of days in Napa Valley, but now under the advice of my grandfather, am considering San Francisco because of shortage of time. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay, eat or do in a quick 2 day trip to San Fran? I'm also considering San Diego. Thanks!

San Fran....San Diego......How about the San Jaun Islands......Come here I'll show you were to go.......via the water........you won't regret it. Depending on when you come.....we can work out a boat ride or whatever.
Seattle and the region this time of year is really nice. 78 and not a cloud in the sky today.... Trust me, we have two major Wineries here to visit too(Columbia and St. Michelle)......oh did someone say Micro-brew, waterside dining all over the Puget sound...
Someone mentioned Dungeness Crab.......Fresh -pick your 2 or 3 Bed and breakfasts in the Islands with a 2 minute walk to a beach and fresh espressos.

I love this board! There's not too many places with people like Scott who would welcome me out to where he spends time with his family and friends, even though we only know each other through the many threads on this board. Scott, your invitation is truly appreciated, thank you. Unfortunately, I booked my trip a day before I read your reply. Hopefully in the future I can take you up on your offer, after all, who wouldn't want to see first hand the photos you post here?!

So... I will be staying at the Chancellor Hotel in Union Square. I did some research and it has a lot of good customer reviews and was very reasonable. The whole trip (3 nights and flight) ended costing just over $1300, which I didn't think was too bad.

No Worries, I haad to re-read the thread to see if there was a Scott. Ironically for some reasons I get called Scott all the time. I think over the Phone when I say Todd it sounds like Scott.

OH good. You still have time to plan a return trip here for the end of July or August for our really good weather :grin:

Well I just got back from San Francisco and it was a great time. An extra day would have been nice, but we squeezed in a lot of sights in 2 full days. We hit Alcratraz 1st, then Pier 39, fishermans' wharf, Ghiradelli Square, Lombard Street, Chinatown, Union Square, boat ride under the GG bridge and ferry to Sausalito. We probably walked over 10 miles throughout the two days, but rode the cable cars whenever we got a chance. The bay was incredibley rough when we were there, critical days on the bay the coast guard said. 35-40 mile per hour winds and 7-8 foot swells. We found this out when we took our small boat ride to the GG bridge, a bit of a hairy ride! A wet ride too! Thanks for all the suggestions!
