Hi, I have picked up the 21 inch Shakespeare antenna. I am looking at the 4188s Shakespeare rail mount (multi-directional) so I can install the antenna on the front railing (no radar arch) and then lay the antenna onto the front deck while underway in rough seas.
My Question is How tight / secure does the mount get so I can order the right extension pole. 4in or possibly found 6in - 12 inch? I understand the longer the extension rod the more the pressure on the mount. Thanks all John G. guess no one?

I have your rail mount that I use on a whip which is over kill but it works for me. There are some serious teeth on the mount and it has never come loose and holds it position well. The two Allen heads that hold the mount to the rail can be torqued down verty tight as they are substantal.

They are not that expensive. If I was going to put a flying saucer on I would go with a short extension.

Good luck

Hi, Thank for the reply. I am going to order a couple of extension poles.
Being 30 - 35 miles away from NYC the large 21in." flying saucer" works great.
I tested it for the first time last night. I see that some Digital stations actually have 4 stations like NBC. I remember from my old camping days a 25ft boat is like a large tent and can be very tight. The TV can help on those Rainy days or early mornings waiting for the wife to wake and don't forget those Eairly season football games. Thanks again. John G.
