Hi everyone... Im closing on a 330 Sundancer this week and have been making calls for the last two weeks to marinas south of Boston toward the cape (Scituate, Marshfield, Plymouth, Wareham) no one seems to have any slips available... Anyone have any advice??

have you tried:

Zecco marine in wareham? new docks installed last year
Brewer in Onset
Popes Island in New Bedford?

I tried all three of those! haha, its strange, everywhere is full... Im on the wait list at Zecco right now, well see what happens.

I am surprised you couldn't find anything in Wareham because the marinas in Wareham areas seem to have slips when no one else does. I don't know any marina specifically but I now a few people of the years that have gone to Wareham/Onset marinas as a backup plan. It must be a sign of the times as more people are getting back into boating as the economy comes back.

If you would want Boston Harbor the Bay Pointe Marina in Quincy usually has slips.

I am surprised the 35' slips are full at Popes Island, seemed like E dock had a few openings last year. Did you ask about 40' slips, they would likely require you to pay the 40' minimum but then you could be on a list to move later in the year or next year as opening come up. When I had a 28' Grady White we were in a 35' slip until a 30' slip opened up, but that winter we moved up a bit an needed a 40' slip!

I actually did not call Popes Island.... That was a little far for me, id rather moor the boat on the North River in Marshfield at Roht Marine (thats my last choice, I know they have openings for $100/ ft which seems steep for a mooring but its a spot at least). Continental and Stonebridge said we can't clear the bridge at high tide. Onset is full, Zecco is full, and of course the town owned Marinas are all full. Plymouth, Marshfield, Scituate are all full

$100/ft for a mooring is steep, but $100/ft for a dock is probably average (and almost half of what the cape would cost!). Popes Island is $90/ft.

From what I have heard average on the cape is in the $170/ft range

Just fyi - I've stayed for a few days at a time at Stonebridge Marina with my 340DA the past couple years. The folks that own that marina also do my winter maintenance, and they usually launch my boat there and let me leave it for a few days to get it provisioned and ready before I take it to my mooring in Mattapoisett. I had it there for a week while I was having canvas work done also. I can go under the bridge at half tide or less with the 340DA. I drop my antenna obviously, and lower the anchor light, but the radar clears ok. You do want to be in the middle of the bridge, but it's really not bad. I wouldn't go at high tide, too tight. The marina is getting all new floating docks this year.

I should rent out a space at the Cape house...
ThatwouldpayThat would payfor my boat for the year

A friend of mine used to rent a slip on Little River from a little old lady with a cottage and a deep water dock there. She owned the cottage free and clear and the slip rental paid all her expenses for the cottage for the Year.

i could fit another 30'-32' on the other side of the dock with water and power and wifi but vehicle parking is at a premium. i'll have to ask my grandmother if shes looking for some extra income. they also may or maynot have 2 moorings open in their name this year with tons of dinghy space on their private beach( like 60' of sand).
i would consider taking a human life for this piece of property. it's heaven. we are on the Flamouth side of washburn island opposite from little river.

Haha, I would probably take a human life for a setup like that too, I'm sure its been in your family forever and is worth a decent chunk of change. I know the Plymouth harbormasters pretty well through work so they may hook me up with a temp for this summer but id really like to be on a slip.

John, I went and spoke to the SSDD guys today on my way to work. He remembered me from when I almost bought a 26' Rinker from him about 7 or 8 years ago. I also told them my new boat was purchased from them last year as the Black Pearl and he remembered it well. The owner of it at the time is a good friend of theirs. Anyway, they also own and operate the Cordage Park Marina (which is where I want to be *BAD* because its less than a mile from our house). They're going to see what they can do for me because ill be a permanent summer and winter customer for a long time to come.

The 4th last year was one for the record books haha. Im a Trooper, I work in the Boston area but know a lot of the guys down here. I was at Brown's all the time in my last boat, not really sure how to tackle it in a 33 foot cruiser though. Before id just ass in to the sand and it was easy on easy off
