I have a 3.5 hp Nissan 2 stroke outboard with an internal (only) gas tank. I started it up today for the first time this year and found a hairline crack near the mounting bolt about 3/8" long. My friend suggested I use a two part epoxy but I am skeptical about glue on a gas tank.

Does anyone have any experiences repairing a tank?

Thanks in advance.

Dang I see that in the header now. If it is a polyethylene tank read my repair write up for the water tank.

Nice write up. I was a little more concerned with Gas vs water and wondered if the simple 2 part epoxies really work on gas tanks. Thanks for the feedback on your experiences. The truth is I can get a new tank for about $50 and should probably do this for the peace of mind. I thought I would throw it out here and see if someone did the same repair on the cheap without buying special tools, etc.
