Any ideas on building a custom helm seat to replace the bench seat.

I decided it may be a better idea to reconfigure our seating than to cut the boat in half and lengthen it. I would like to build a split bench seat where the driver seat is stationary. But make the rest of the seat reversible so the back could be right up against the dash so the person could be facing guest seated in the back part of the boat. Then when cruising by ourselves we would reverse the seat to create a bench seat. Is this something I could buy off the shelf or at least buy the hardware off the shelf and build the custom seat. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the pictures of the newer Sea Rays - specifically something like the 250 SDX. It uses a reversible seat like you are envisioning. It might give you some ideas. I'm not 100% positive, but I think Sea Ray may have had that custom made by Garelick. Maybe contact them and see what they can do for you. Or, you could buy the bracket from your Sea Ray dealer and then add the foam/vinyl, if the sizing works - or maybe once you had it you could alter the width, if need be.
