Hello everyone -

I would be interested in learning whether anyone had plans for a spring/summer '09 cruise (weekender or longer) in the Wilmington,NC to Savannah, GA area where another Sundancer would be welcome?

Happy cruizin' all...

Yes it was formally brought up in Oct. Search for...Coastal Carolina Trip 2009. The topic kinda fizzled but I am sure it will come up more as the time is nearer:)! Theres also a post of Chas to Myrtle trip by SeaRayPaul and an older one of some local and semi SC local CSR's that did Santee to Chas through the locks. There were some boats from the Keowee raft up this past Labor day that expressed interest in another rondevous along the SC coast somewhere. So I am sure we have the makings for AT LEAST one! I would love to go up to Wilmington or Beaufort/Sav. But even G'town to MB with a CSR raft up at Redneck Riviera would be nice. Or maybe a night on the hook at the riviera.

I'd love to get the opportunity to go to Georgetown and explore the rivers. Would love to make some weekend trips, and meet some of the SC CSR members. "YA'LL" keep in touch "Na Ya Hear" Nicky

Traburne, Sweet Dreams, and NickySC--I'd also be interested in a CSR Rendezvous this year. There was one in Charleston a couple of years ago that was great fun, and I'm ready for another installment. I bet we could get some of the other CSR folks in the area interested as well if we start making some concrete plans.

Sadler,
Great to hear from you. Ye the Charleston trip was fun. We would love to do it again, but it is really going to depend on the economy picking up.

Same here.

Good to hear from you Sadler.... I thought you was going to sell your boat (or am I mixing you up with someone else, I cannot remember?) It would be fun to do again; that trip was the most fun I've had so far (except for the minor detail about blowing my engine LOL)

Chuck and Gerald--good to hear from you guys.

Gerald, your memory is correct. I was going to sell my boat. I listed it for awhile, didn't get a real buyer, and decided to "love the one I'm with" and just keep Hey Babe and tinker with her and boat as much as I can. With gas prices down and diesel up, I'm not too sad I struck out.

We could do a low cost "green" CSR weekend and not go distances using lots of gas, but instead people could put in in Charleston and make it a "no marina" (read--no dock fee), no long distance/no big fuel bill weekend where we stay on the water and putter at low speed from anchorage to anchorage, using very little fuel. Morris Island, Kiawah Island, Folly Island--lots of amazing places to anchor out close to Charleston. If folks want a little more, maybe do a late lunch/dinner on Shem Creek or the Crab House from the water. Or just grill out on the water--the Magma grill on my boat is of course available to everyone.

2 years ago I would be there in a heartbeat.(Grin) Now days, I'm just taking it day, by day. I tell everybody I works twice as hard for 1/10 (if I'm lucky) the pay.

A Charleston trip is in my agenda for this year. Have no plans yet though so if a date is ever set, I may try to set my dates to make it if only for a day before moving along. SB

Sadler good to see you back on the board. We usually make the Cooper river run from lake Marion to Charleston a half dozen times a year. Would love to get to gether with with some of the good folks on this board, in Charleston, or any location in the area. Right now I am in the middle of replaceing the gimble ring and bellows, but should be up and running by spring, so ya'll plan a fun weekend or day and lets do it. nicky

The "green" weekend/trip sounds like a winner to me. Have not been those places yet and it would be great to make a run and see them all. Even if we add it to the agenda in addition to other trips along the SC coast!

I understand Chuck. I know your particular work area is getting pounded. The company I work for has had to lay people off and give retirement packages to thin the ranks--all almost unheard of in my 30 years there. I don't think many people anywhere feel secure anymore. This will probably go down as The Great Recession.

Sounds like there may be the makings of at least a small get together. Like everyone else, we are also 'playing it by ear' regarding the economy, fuel prices, etc., but any cruiz is better than no cruiz. Sure hope something comes of this... we'll keep watching the board.

Happy cruizin' all...

OK, let's try to make this happen. I think we have at least three boaters: Sweet Dreams, NickySC, and myself for "cruizin' plans".

Hopefully traburn who started the thread will join us. And, Gerald, hopefully you and Durango (the amazing amphibious dog) will be able to make it. Maybe we can even twist Chuck's arm some more so he'll be able to make it, along with some of the other guys from the last Charleston Rendezvous and any of the other CSR folks nearby.

How does a weekend in May sound to everyone?

Sadler

Agree but on the positive side, that would give some people that trailer farther the option of a longer weekend enabling them to add a leg onto the trip if they wanted. ie the locks, myrtle or beaufort.

Good point. Memorial Day weekend works for me.

Hey everybody. Sadler, good to hear from you. I always wanted to do a Charleston to G-Town trip. It's a section of the intercostal waterway I haven't yet run.
Gerald, I promise to not get a ticket this time. LOL.
