Any car guys in here? Post a picture of your other money pit!!

My wife had a 2013 Mercedes GL450... Samething ..no one could afford it out of warranty.. It was awful ...when warranty was up it had to go and she wanted another one. Only pic I have is garage cam...2017 GLS450... This has had minor warranty issues mostly cosmetic trim etc.... I might consider this one out of warranty... But still not really impressed with Mercedes. My Lexus... Never a warranty issue...just a flawless car worth every penny.

I also had a 2013 GL450. Same experience when it hit 100k miles. It was in the shop every month each time costing several thousand in repairs. Traded it in for a new GLS450 which is essentially the same vehicle.

I had a BMW X5 with similar issues, but it started within days of when I bought it new. I was too stupid to sell it before the warranty expired and spent thousands before I finally got rid of it. The last estimate I had when I took it in to replace the coolant reservoir before I sold it (it is now in Beirut - long story) was for $9,000 of "repairs" to all of the leaks, noises etc. Most of which I had been complaining about while it was under warrany. Great to drive, horrible to own.

My wife drives a 2011 X5 and it was great vehicle until it got over 100k. Holy shit. I get a call weekly at work... This light went off, that light went off, it dinging at me, it's making a squeaking noise, etc. Since I do all my own work, it's become tiresome. Holy cow I'm so ready to get rid of it.

I know its not a prestige brand, but I replaced the X5 with an Acura MDX. 30K miles later, its been in for oil changes and one brake job. That’s it.

Sold this one a couple years after we started boating. Getting dusty in the garage while we're all out on the water.

Mate to the car I had just after high-school. Bought it from my girlfriend at the time. She's now my wife of 35 years & called it a real beast to drive.

That's on the short list for the next one. I think the next one will either be Japanese or Chevy/GMC. At least the Chevy Suburban/Tahoe or GMC variant you can work on much easier than the X5.

I like the MDX. Acura is still struggling with market positioning and there was (and still are) large incentives on the MDX which did influence my decision. It amounted to almost $5K more than the competion, although its hard to directly compare because of base price/incentive/dealer discount trade-offs. Pays for a bit of fuel in the boat!

The MDX is due for a new model change and if it is as nice as the new RDX, I think it will be a winner. I tested Lexus and Audi too. Lexus I found to be a bit "oldsmobile" feeling. Audi, being German, did not appeal to me, although it drove nicely.

We had a 1969 AMX 343 Go Pack car.
I loved it, kids in mustangs had no idea what it was. These cars are not appreciated as much as others for some reason.
Nice Car!

Son had a 2006 BMW 328xi. Had about 90,000 on it when he bought it then traded it in with about 110,000 on it for a new 2017 WRX. I liked that BMW. I was tempted to buy it from him.

My daughter bought a 2016 Acura TLX earlier this year. Had 4000 miles on it. Loaded with everything. Older couple bought it new but then the guy had trouble getting in and out of it so they always drove their other car so sold this one back to the dealer. She has about 20,000 on it now and it has been trouble free. It shuts off when you stop. I know lots of cars do that now but in 2016 I don't think there were many that did that.

Total opposite for us with BMW’s son just traded in 2008 328i with 235,000 miles on it never gave him any trouble. bought himself an X1 and loves it.

Before the majority of BMWs were turboed, they were dead nuts reliable. The one you mentioned fell in that category.

My E36 M3 was reliable until close to 200k (inline 6 non-turbo). Then it started nickel and diming me. My E90/92 M3 V8 is a mixed bag. Still a beast of a car at over 400 hp, but I sunk $2500 in parts alone at about 125k miles last year (my labor). The N52/N54 engine found in the 335i, x5, and a host of other vehicles is relatively reliable, but they definitely have their shortcomings. My wife's x5 is falling into that same category.

they are just like a bell 47 slow and can take a beating autos at 60 kns its a hiller 12 b c built 1952 have flown it about 2300 hours on it wood blades and 235 hp franklin

I’m not much of a do it yourself guy....but would like input if “recommended” brake line flushes, rad flushes, fuel injector flushes are really worth the $$$$. The fuel injector service was quoted about $800.
The vehicle is a 2015 RX350 and has no issues.
I’m thinking it’s a make work project for the dealer.
