Was trying to change a dripless shaft seal on port side prop shaft and of course had water coming in when I loosened the components. I had to button things back up before replacing the seal. I never got the job completed but that's another story. The water would not drain out of the shaft access area. I looked for a drain hole and found one molded in the fiberglass in the forward end of access area but could not get a good visual. I can reach the hole with my arm and feel the inside of it. It feels like the hole is blocked with plywood or something solid. I am wondering if this drain hole was supposed to be drilled out at the factory and was overlooked. You would think it would drain to the bilge area in case of major seal failure.
My question is there any 2001 380 AC owners who would be willing to check this drain hole on there boat and see if they can tell if it is blocked. You have too remove port shaft cover on floor of aft cabin, lay down, reach forward, and use finger for probing. Sounds Bad ha ha :) but that's the only way too describe it.....Thanks, Ken

If you're talking about the well beneath the engine they typically do not have limber holes. This is to prevent a major oil leak from draining into the bilge and being pumped overboard. It's fairly easy to suck the compartment dry with a wet vac. My only issue with this is if you have a gas boat then a wet vac can be dangerous because they are not ignition protected.

No, it is a separate well located in the aft master. The only access is a small hatch on the floor. The Hatch door gives you access to the dripless shaft seal. When we got back from a trip a few weeks ago I opened the hatch for inspection and found about 4 gallons of water in that well. It will not drain, I had to shop vac it out.
