I have a 1971 Searay SRV200 that I would like to try and find the value on. Its a very rare boat so Ive been told by several people. Its it really good shape for the year. Just a few marks here and there. Its 20' long, Deep green inside and out with a 327 235 hp motor. My grandpa bought it from the original owner in 1975. It has a plaque on the dashboard the said it was built especially for the original owner. Any help would be appericiated. Thanks.

I can't speak to the rarity or not of that particular boat but I have been in the market for a nice Classic Sea Ray runabout for a while so I will share what I have seen during that time.

I think some people try and equate them to classic cars which they are not. Typically, I have seen 1965-1975 SR runabouts in very good condition go for say 2K-4K with a couple as high as 5K in pristine condition. Some of this depends on the motor as some old outboard motors seem to be more valuable than others. I have also seen some list for 10K+ that have been sitting literally for years. If you talk about the older wooden runabouts, that is a whole different class and those go for big $$.

I am not sure there is much of a fiberglass boat "collector" community. But there are some Classic Boat enthusiasts at http://www.fiberglassics.com/ who may be able to better help you. At the end of the day, I think it is all about how much someone is willing to pay. I try to consider whether or not I can sell the next day for the same money before I buy something like this.

I am no expert this is just based of what I have happened to see in the last couple years of looking so it is purly opinion. As for me, I am still looking. Good Luck! If all else fails, you could list it on ebay and see what happens.

Thanks for the information. For the right price I would consider selling it but as of now Im not looking to sell it. Just more curious as the value of antique boats.

No problem. Out of curosity what about the boat has prompted several people to say it is rare?

They always talk about the color. A guy stopped in front of my house saturday when I was getting it ready to take to the lake to look at it. He acted like he knows alot about searays. He told me they made very few in the green with green matching interior. I told him about the original owner ordering it especially for him from the factory. He said one thing the guy had done was the 2 captain chairs in the front left out and the fold down chairs moved up to make more room in the back of the boat. I will have to get pictures of it sometime on here. Like I said Im just trying to find out things about it.
