Once I figured out it had to be turned on in 2-places, my bow thruster has worked fine until last weekend.

When I push the switch on the switch panel to turn it on, I can hear the solenoid in the ER pull in, but it will not stay latched, hence no bow thruster. Ordered and installed new solenoid, batteries are brand new and putting out 26.1 volts, and switch at helm is making the solenoid click in both on and off positions.

Any idea what to look for next?

Thanks,
Bennett

I have a 420, and a few months back, while using the thruster, it just quit/died on the third "bump". As you, I started with the solenoid. All was good. Keep following the heavy gauge wire, and on my boat, there is a fusible link. It is in essence a 200 amp fuse. They cost ~$20.

Thanks...that link is good. I am getting 26v to the battery side of the solenoid...that link is between the battery and the solenoid.

Thanks again,
Bennet

This morning, as I have numerous times lately, I was scouring the web trying to find anything I had no read about bow thruster problems. I came across someone who had posted that when you pushed the power button and the thruster control started beeping, you had to push the power button again to power it up. Go figure....my bow thruster problem no longer exists. It works great now....Bennett

Question: I had an issue with windless and thought it may have been a bad switch. The only other 8 pole switch at helm was for the bow thruster so I tried switching. Turned out my windless controller was bad and it was not the switch. When I reconnected to thruster switch it no longer stays on. I can hear the solenoid engage and the power light turns on but when I release the switch it disengages. I have to hold the switch in the on position and only then am able to use the thruster control toggle. How exactly did you resolve your issue? Was it a fuse and if so where did you locate? I am a 2005 420 Sedan Bridge. Thanks.

Bennett, sounds like you are still having fun with the bow thruster. You should try adding in the bow thruster remote control module just to complicate the environment. It's actually a useful tool that lets you run the bow thruster even when you are away from the helm.
