Hi all. I'm a long time boater but new CSR member checking in. I currently own a 1996 330 Sundancer but am in the process of trading up to a Sea Ray 550 Sedan Bridge. If all goes well they will pick up my boat in the week of May 17-21 and haul it east then bring the new one out the next week.

I'm having the new one taken to Portland, OR to have some equipment installed on it. After that it should be ready to bring up the Columbia to our area around mid June.

I also have a 1989 19' Reinell that be picked up last year to take down to our place in Surprise, AZ. We'll be snowbirds down there and want to have something to run around Lake Pleasant on.

GFC, WELCOME! If you're the same Go First Class, I remember you on the Go Boating foum a few years ago...good to see you here. Congratulations on the 550....is she going to be another Liquid Asset?

Again, welcome aboard!

Hi Cat,

Yes, I'm the same GFC from the old GoBoating and also from BoatingABC. GoBoating almost died a painful death a few years ago when it was hit hard by spammers and never fully recovered. Then the mag was sold to SEA and it's just never been the same. They get a post or two a day. It's like watching soaps on TV. If you miss it for a few weeks you really haven't missed much.

BABC is still very active though not what it used to be. Many of the old timers faded away but many new members have replaced them.

No, this 550 won't be another Liquid Asset. It's going to be "Beachcomber". We felt that name fit the style of boating we like to do....just poking around in out of the way places.

We went to the San Juans a couple of years ago and that whetted our appetite for cruising up that direction. Retirement comes in less than a year and we plan to spend summers up there.

I lost track of those forums once I found the old SRO and now CSR....I would peek in on them now and again but it seemed to be slowing down. This forum if you miss a day, it seems like you are at the end of a threads life span...it has slowed down some due to folks getting back on the water but it is still pretty chatty.

Unlike the other forums, there is quite a diesel knowledge base here, something you may find helpful with the 550 if you need it.

Look forward to hearing more about Beachcomber as you get closer to taking delivery.

Welcome GFC! Great to see you over here. I still frequent babc but tend to post more here just because of the quick and plentiful responses. Plus, there's some great folks over here with my identical boat which I haven't seen on the other site. That 550 is something else!! Congrats.

Congrats again GFC. I was wondering how long it would take you to migrate over to this site....

Well this is like old home week. Lots of familiar names around here!
BTW, is there any way to get the posts to be shown in a "Oldest Post First" order rather than the "Newest Post First"?

It's a PITA to have to go to the last page of a multi-page topic to read the thread from the start.

I think I know what your asking....maybe not.

Where you see a thread that has multiple pages shown as (1,2,3...) you can click on the number and it will take you to the 2nd page if you will of that thread, or when some get really long, I just click on the last page.

Welcome to CSR. The option that you are looking for is under "User CP", which is on the blue menu bar directly underneath the pic of the Sea Ray at the top of this page.

From there, you need to clisk "Edit options" on the left side of the page. Scroll down a bit.

I just noticed that my options were set to display oldest first, but they haven't been. Let me know if it works for you. If not, we need to let Jim know.

Michael

Welcome to CSR and greetings from the Chesapeake Bay. We get to Wa. annually. Our daughter and her husband live in Bellingham, Wa. Anyway, welcome.

Skibum, thanks for the tip about how responses are displayed. Now it looks like it oughta!

Hans, nice country up there. We boated into Bellingham two years ago when we were on a San Juans trip. Nice waters in that part of the US.

Good to see ya again Mike. I hope things get ironed out with the transport of your 550.
Say hi to the galley wench for me.

Thanks all. Kay, I will give her your nod. Where on the Lakes are you? I grew up on the Lk Huron side of MI, Saginaw Bay area.
