Another Electronics Upgrade Question

Forgot to add a big THANK YOU to @Kevin C. at Cove Marine for getting the dash panel through Tecnografic (He's an authorized dealer)

Fit like a glove with all the holes drilled in the exact locations necessary.

That came out great!!!!

On the lower left hand corner of the VV7 yours says "System OK" and then below that "Standby" . Mine says "Troll" rather than Standby; always has. How do you make changes to that section of the VV?

Time for some cameras my friend.

Thanks @ocgrant . I went out this weekend for the first time with them and am really happy with the result. (though i think they could be bigger. BiggerScreenITIS?) eek!
And yes, cameras are next on the list. Not sure what I want them viewing TBH. Do I really need one in the engine room? I was thinking more for when I am away from the boat, for security. Going to get a wireless hotspot and add wifi to the boat. Season is almost over up here, so i figure this will be a winter project.

@ttmott , I'll have to check and come back on that one. The only place I see an opportunity to go into troll mode is on my DTS.
Looks like this

Silly question I am sure, but I am assuming you aren't in that mode...

"When X is selected while displaying the Troll element, the troll feature will be disabled. The Troll icon will be displayed next to the system status field until another icon is selected from the scroller bar"
I think you may have a troll RPM set, but the feasture itself is disabled. Maybe delete the rpm setting or set to 0?

I don't have "DTS" however it is fully electronic (no cables). It's been showing "Troll" since I bought the boat and last year when the new VV7 was installed it still shows Troll. Then I was thinking it's something in the engine ECM but those were replaced last year also.....

Based on the manual, I think you have an RPM set for troll. I would try to delete it from the VV7 page.

You would think - but the manual, which I've been through twenty times, is not descriptive of what my VV7 is displaying and going into and out of the Troll mode does nothing. It may be something indicative of the QSM11 as I don't believe the VV7 has any capability to control these engines. Anyway thanks - didn't intend to derail your discussion....

i dont mind at all!

@ttmott
you intrigued me, so I called Mercury. They said that based on the application, and the SIM (Software Integration Module) and the CCM (Command & Control Module), that may be an unsettable feature.
As you said, it may be the difference of the way the vv7 interacts with your QSMs vs my QSCs.

Good to know, at least.

Thanks! - I've been trying to get rid of that message for several years....

@ttmott
Check out the pictures below:
I go from standby to auto when I engage auto heading (or auto pilot) on my precision pilot pad..

Look at that! Is that integrated with your chart plotter or a Mercury function?
Hopefully this weekends project is to try it out, but Mercury tells me all the autopilot routes have to be done through the vessel view, and then they will show upon my MFDs.
So i would say it is a Mercury function.

Looks good Dave. I have the engine data on my Garmins over NEMA2K but I am still using the original SmartCraft SC5000. Planning to upgrade to the Vessel View 7 over the winter.

How did you get the engine data on your garmin? I have smartcraft and garmin 8610xsv.... thanks!

Yep... 16XL's will fit edge to edge. Technografics will cut me a new mounting plate finished in my original Sea Ray brushed aluminium finish already pre cut to fit the Axioms.
I put the axiom 16 xl in my 52 sedan bridge and they are terrific. They fit tight. So tight that they look like a glass top cockpit design. It’s very cool.

I had my marina do the install and I know it is through the NEMA2K network but don't know all the details. I'll try to find the list of parts that were added but I do know it wasn't exactly plug and play.
