Listening to the fire department scanner and have been monitoring a call for carbon monoxide poisoning.
This occurred in Frog Mortar Creek accross from Parkside Marina where last year 3 died from the same problem. (Middle River-Baltimore area)
According to paramedics and other personnel, they have 4 patients from a cruiser. 3 apparently seem ok, one is in full cardiac arrest. High levels of carbon monoxide are present in the cabin.
I was at this exact area all afternoon and there were 17 other boats there in about 3 different groups.

I guess this is another example of the need to be cautious with your generators.

That is really unfortunate. That gas is a very sneaky thief. Hopefully everyone is okay. Do new Sea Ray cruisers come with detectors now? Probably a good standard option, hard wired to the 12v system.

Talked with someone yesterday who knew the details.
Four people onboard a cruiser and they had a portable generator tied to the swim platform. They were seated in the cockpit area when the victim started to feel bad. He went into the cabin to lay down and apparently the cabin was loaded with carbon monoxide from the generator. He died shortly thereafter.

So it appears even external generators can cause problems with exhaust making it's way to the cabin. Even those seated in the cockpit had elevated levels in their blood and had to go to the hospital.

Scratch that idea of buying a honda 2000 generator for my boat off my list!

That's all I needed to hear.
