My 44 DB has two lights in the overhead above the cockpit. They are chrome with a white lens, about 4 or 5 inches in diameter. One bulb is out, and I can't figure out how to get the unit down to replace it. I've tried twisting and pulling, but nothing seems to want to move. Do I need to just twist or pull harder, or is there a trick I'm missing?

brute force.. they are spring loaded and nearly impossible to get out. NEARLY. I used a drywall mud knife on each side and pulled like hell. I still bent one even being as careful as I could possibly have been

Not that fixture. I found one in a parts store nearby, and it turns out that the lens cover twists off, but it takes almost a full turn to get it off, so I was turning, and nothing was happening, but I think I just wasn't turning far enough. I'll try again this afternoon.

The chrome ring turns counter clockwise to loosen. There are some very small indents in the edge of the ring. I have used a screwdriver and a hammer to tap the ring counterclockwise to loosen it. They can be a pain to remove.

You're right...I got it off this afternoon, and it was a royal pain. Squirted some WD40 around the rim and that finally got things slick enough for it to budge.

You used WD/40 and if you used duct tape stuck to the face to give more leverage to twist it, you would have completed the universal tool kit!

Never thought to use duct tape...that probably would have been a big help! Next time, I'll have all the necessary tools!
