Anchor size

Here's what happens to a 15Kg anchor when you don't let out enough scope in rough seas....and this was with a sandy bottom...

That should convince you that ...

Delta plow anchors are tough! If that stock bent before the anchor broke free in sand, man that is holding!

Put that stock between two close trees and pull it back straight with a chain on your hitch, be good as new ...

You could be the next Advertising Spokesman for Delta!

:)

I put this darn thing in between the grates of the storm drain in the street and it wouldn't budge. I smacked it with a 10lb sledge and used a 6 foot pry bar to just barely get it back to useable straight.....It'll work for now, but it looks like he!!

Dominic....if you decide to order an anchor similar to the stock...try Southcoast Marine Products. This is the company that Sea Ray get their anchors from. I will try to locate their phone number.

Jeff:

Since I was able to fix the air horns, I was able to justify the cost differential, especially to the admiral, that a SS Anchor sure would like nice hanging off the bow.

I ordered a shiney new 44 lb SS CQR type anchor online yesterday. I'll post some pics with the info when it gets in.......

Now, how to keep Gary from telling me "he told me so" when I get my first few scratches..... :smt017

later,

Dominic...your new anchor will look sharp.... I can see a new thread coming...how to polish your stainless anchor... :smt043 :smt043

Don't forget ...

You are going to a a really big honking swivel for the plow!

Delta's and plows won't set properly without a swivel to relieve the chain torque.

Chad:

Based on the way that my current non CQR plow anchor bent, I'm guessing that the swivel that I have now is good enough to set a plow...

Dominic

This is off topic from the thread. I'm curious about your davit sytem on your boat. What type is it? It looks really sharp. Is that a 10' dinghy as well? Thanks in adavnce for any info you can give me.

It's a Dom's Dinghy Davit....the Dinghy is a PVC Mercury Airdeck 270....you can read all about it here... http://clubsearay.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3538&start=0

Back on topic....my shinney new anchor is lost in shipping. FedEx is blaming all the flooding in the Mid West....Hopefully I'll hear more tomorrow...

Dom,
I have lots of photos from the air show if you would like them. Let me know.

S W E E T looking digs! being originally from brooklyn, where you had to padlock your anchor and bell and electronics, i'd NEVER buy one of those for fear that it would "walk."

BTW Dom, where did you say your boat is docked??? :smt115
