Anchor Rode won't feed

Marshall, Benson is the brand name of his windlass!

I have had the same feed problems with my Antares windlass from day one. I made the dealer change the rode out but it didn't make any difference. I have tried the "drop all out, back up" method, but have not tried the softener yet... that is next. I think new rode is just to stiff!

Buy a 8 plait line and it will fall so much better. That is what I got for my very small locker and it has worked well. The gypsy grips it great and it just lays down, no pop-ups.MM

Many thanks to all and to you Scooter, the 1/2" line did the trick. It's going to be in the 70's for the next two days so I will head to deep water and try everything out to be sure

Can I ask a question about my windless. I was anchored today and I didn't set the metal block on the chain. I was inside the 340 DA and a hear a sound like the chain falling out.

All of the chain feed out and the windless would just spin and whine. I pulled the chain up by hand and finally got it to spool in the chain if there was some tension, but not very much.

Have I stripped or messed up my windless permanently??
