What kind of paint do you paint the anchor with thats looking rather ugly hanging over the bow???

is there an regular anchor paint???? ...

Bill,

If the anchor was galvanized and is starting to rust there isn't much you can do. The remaining zinc doesn't allow good adhesion by paint, and the areas that are rusting, are well rusting.

You might be able to find someone who will grit blast the anchor and then get it re-galvanized. However, my guess is that you will spend as much on that as for a new anchor.

It is supposed to be ugly... If you want a preaty anchor buy a chorme anchor...

Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis?!!
If I wanted some crusted barnacle heap hanging off of the bow of my boat, I'd buy a sailboat.

Now that's an anchor! Looks like a CQR? What size (weight) is it?

I've never seen a paint job that looked good. Buy a new anchor and use it. Dragging it out of the mud and sand seems to make my delta look as good as new once the mud is rinsed off.

Sissy boy? My Ass!
It's a 15# 304 Stainless I bought from Marinepartdepot.com. They have other sizes too to fit your boat's size. It's not as fancy as the 316 units that do not show rust spots at all, but for the price it does it's job. If I see any rust spots at all I just wipe it down with some wax. It looks as good as new.

Anyway she held all four boats here. If you look close at the Meridian, she had her hook down but you can see the chain go straight down and all four of us were held on my hook.

If you want to talk about a Man's Man anchor? I took a picture of this guys hook. All 316 Stainless 275lbs. It was attached to about an 80' Yacht. It probably cost more than my boat.

Ok, now you have me thinking. Do these stainless steel anchors get scratched up when you use them?
I'm sure there are some small gravel scratches on there, but it's a Manly anchor. Nothing noticable. It's better looking than a rusting galvanized one. A little wax 2-3 a year to keep her pretty (the grill gets it too).
Todd

Do the letters OCD mean anything to you?

Henry

Yes. Owesome cool dude!
I just like to keep my stuff nice. I don't have buckets of money, so keeping up on stuff and "ship shape" is what makes boating more relaxing to me and easier to resell. You may recall what this boat looked like when I bought it. I saw through the dirt to the potential and she's held up to expectations. That was a lot of L-bow-greez, so I want to keep her that way. She's actually due to bring home and a thorough vacuum, wipe down, pressure wash here and there and complete waxing.

OK ill stay with ugly till i cant stand it anymore then do as Mr Boyd suggested....

I think so, I bought my GF some Northeast navionics chips for her birthday.

You can get away with that now. When/if she becomes the wife try a vacuum for your anniversary.

Gary, I'm surprised you don't have bow bling already. I'm disappointed.

I have to get a stainless anchor.

Bastards.

About the only thing you haven't broke yet on your boat is the anchor. You need to go out and anchor in some real snot and then bend the crap out of your current anchor...

.......then you can go shopping for a CQR to replace it with....

....and it might as well be bigger, heavier, and prettier......nice shiny stainless....

Yes, there is. Get a spray can of cold galvanizing at your local Depot or Lowes.

Since I reguarly anchor on rockpiles, ledges, and wrecks the thought of having to cut loose a 4 figure stainless steel anchor doesn't appeal to me.

My aluminum Fortress doesn't rust. But it isn't so purty and shiny.
