Can someone give me a good source for anchor chain? I needs 150' 5/16' galvanized with 4-5' stainless lead.

If you do a search on the site or a google site search you will quickly find sources as we covered that recently. Please only post a question in one forum, most of us use the "new 24 hours" link and will see it no matter where you post it.

Good luck, MM

Hi RACA, getting 5/16th High Test chain in La. should be a snap. The 150 continuous length should pose no problem either. I commissioned with a G4 chain (made in China) with 300 feet. Paid $500.00 for 300 feet. After nearly 5 years not a spot of rust so the galvanization was very good.

Now your desire to lead with 5 feet of Stainless will introduce a split splicer link which would be the weakest part of the whole rode. I'd recommend against it in particular if it we for just "eye candy".

You could go to an all 316 stainless rode taken to a stainless swivel and anchor, that rig is great looking, but weaker than G4 if that matters.

I found my chain on the Web Google search G4 galvanized chain and your towns name. You'll find local sellers, if not there are plenty of sellers on the web.

G4 weighs in at 13# for 10 feet or 195# less the weight of your nylon to chain rode, which all goes in the forepeak and will effect planeing.
