We met up with my cousin Kevin along with his fiance' one their 26' Bayliner Sailboat. We've never rendezvoused(is that a word) with him in all these years so I was really looking forward to it. He moors it in Bellingham. He took nearly 4 hours to get there. We had some wind and 2'-3' chop on our way to Sucia. It's 25-26 miles from the Swinomish launch. We've never stayed overnight at Sucia either. It was calm once we got there.

It was a great, but too short trip.

NEVER overnighted at Sucia? NEVER?? What kind of San Juan boater are you! I've got around a week of nights there! In Echo and Fossil Bay! Well, if you haven't been to Sucia have you overnighted at Patos? Boy, you've GOT to get out more!

Sucia is a great island and has caves where they used to hide illegal chinese immigrants! Did you get to walk the beach at Fossil Bay to see all of the fossils embedded in the rocks? It's pretty cool! If not, you need to go back sometime!

I've actually been to Matia and Sucia as a kid when my parents and grandparents took us there on their boats. This was my first overnighter there on my boat.

Great pics Todd!
Thanks Chris.

I just figured you'd been there many times! It's a fun spot and you'll enjoy going back and walking the beach!

Nice shots Todd. Sucia is one of my favorite places in the SJ's. The sandstone formations are awesome to explore.
