An Old, New Cockpit table

Cockpit decks all should have a slight camber from the centerline out. I built my cockpit table and decided the best way to remove the unnecessary tilt on the table top was to put shims under the table top, not in the floor mount. Our boat doesn't have a fixed mount, so this wasn't a big deal since I had to make the base as well as the top.

Everyone's tables look GREAT. I have table envy.

Todd, the table looks great. A question, is the center section veneered mahogany over plywood or solid? The reason I ask is that the center piece captive like that, if solid, will expand and contract with humidity changes and open those mitre joints on the frame. Sealing the bottom might slow it down but there will be untreated wood where the hardware mounts to the bottom and moisture will find its way in.

Yes it's all solid. It's mahagony may Granfather had since the 40's. It's going to be sealed all around. I've had the table made and resting in that state for over a year. It is all biscuit joined and glued. Mahagony, Ipe, Ironwood, Tigerwood typically don't expand as much in the humidity since they're all so oily and dense. I think with this catalyzed pour on both sides it will be pretty sealed.

Once it's done I'll have to start making a mounting base to attache the existing table's bracket to.

Ok
after a few months and not only Somesailor's super cool laser mod, a friend of mine has spent some serious work and hours applying the clear to the cockpit table. There are 3 pours of a catalyzed clear and a couple coats of an automotive clear.

It looks great.

Todd, that looks amazing! I gotta say I'm jealous....not just of the table but of the fact that you have a logo.

Watcha doin with the old table? My 260 didn't have that option, and I've been thinking of getting one.

First thanks. Second, I need to use the pedestal and mount to attach this one and keep the fiberglass one for resale.

Thanks Mark. I'm looking forward to making some coasters now so I don't screw it up.

Todd,

Your table is beautiful; congrats! How does it mount? You used the table mount from the little white circular table on one side but what about the other side? Did you attach a table leg that rests on the floor or did you attach some kind of bracket on the inside of the boat?

Have a nice weekend!

Todd,
I have a great appreciation for that skill you have and the table you created. Nice job!
