I need a little dinghy, I don't want at this time to have to install a davit. I just need a 2 person and a dog size to get from anchor to shore and back. West Marine has a mini dinghy and electric motor that looks like it fits the bill. Something I can pump up for the weekend and deflate after we are done and store it nicely away when I don't need it. It this a piece of junk? does anyone have something like this?

How tall are you..... :smt043....sorry...just couldn't resist...

Anyway, I don't think that they are junk....I think they serve a purpose, and your purpose appears just right for one of those....

Saw the same set up a few weeks ago. The boat was used for 2 to get to a nearby restaurant and seemed to work well. The electric motor seemed fine for the smooth water it was in.

I just ended my search on the dinghy and the one from WM for $200 I think is a waist. If you don't mind maying about $400 for a good quility boat you can try this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Sell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget

If the link don't work, do an eBay search for this seller "affordableinflatable". I won an auction for the 6.5' boat (they sell them from ebay store and also list some as an auction). The boat is very nice and light comparing to other brands. Material is very good and solid. I'm very happy since fir very similar product I didn't have to pay $1200+ like they go at WM or other stores.

good luck.
Alex.
I got

A friend has one without the motor. He likes it just fine for occasional use by him and his wife. Not sure about adding a dog to the mix though... We drag/carry a Zodiac for the two of us and the dog and use it a lot. If you intend to use it more than occasionally I would suggest something more substantial...

See ya on the water,
Frank

My dock neighbor returned his to West Marine as he thought it was useless for him. He just bought a small roll up floor dinghy and loves it.

I looked at that one and it is very small. I don't think that would be a good idea especially in the area where you do your boating. It may be dangerous.

ok ok, i'm not going to buy that one. 5 min on the water with my dog and we'll be swimming. I need a real dinghy, with a motor. 6.5' looks like a good small size yet big enough, barely. My boat looked so nice and open before I put all of the crap in it. I did buy the high back WM lounge chairs and they are AWESOME. Got them on sale for $45. Best thing I've bought so far. To bad they don't float.

Oh man, I may be the owner of a dinghy finally. 8.5' zodiac for $100. looks like it's in great shape. fingers crossed. I'll know this weekend.

2 days ago I won a 8.5 with the high pressure floor for $590 on E-Bay from Affordable Inflatable I should have it on Wednesday!!! :smt038

Why do I somethimes get a "GUEST" post... :smt017

Forgot to mention that it's rated for a 10hp motor, I have an 8hp for it, this thing should cook on the water!

Free? That is great. I have read alot of good reports on the dinhies they sell, please let us know what you think once you evaluate it. Are you going to mount it?

Ok, I finally gave in and bought a new dinghy and motor. I just got tired looking at ratty ones. Mercury dinghy and outboard. was putting around in it today. fun.

What size for both? I have soooo much fun on mine.

6'7 dinghy and a 2.5hp 4 stroke. man is it fun. I wish my 280 burned gas like the 2.5hp engine. took it out again today. I was all over the bay, it was raining so the Big brother boats weren't out (didn't register it yet). it's small but it fits right on my swim platform with the engine on and I can still get on and off the boat fine. 2 people and a dog and I hit... seems like about 10 mph. Still a blast. I'm kicking myself for not getting it sooner. They threw in a great cover for it, covers the engine too. I bought it local for a really good price, figure if I have an issue I have a door to knock on. Buster's marine, super nice people. Small enough to throw in the back of the jeep and go fishing on some lakes.

I probably sound like an goooober, like I just discovered dinghy's, but they are worth the money. I didn't buy any davits, just 4 rachet straps from home depot and tied it down to my D rings. bought a couple of eye hole bolts and put those on the transom of the dink. It's not going anywhere.

 Mine came in today, brought it home and blew it up in the livingroom... :smt043

My wife says, how ya gonna get it outside now? :smt017 Ummm, deflate it. (women :smt101 )

It's a Baltik 8.5 with the air floor. Nice boat for $596.00 off E-Bay.

Off to DMV after work tomorrow.

Can't wait to drop the 8hp motor on it :smt038
