I had to post this on another board to lighten up a topic about my truck.

I thought I would change the direction of this topic to "what to do with tow vehicle when you can't get go boating".

There are some mtns not far from our house. The normal way is to drive 35 miles to Kingman Az then 15 to 20 miles up into the Hualapai mtns. We decided to try a 4 wheel trail up the back side. Well here are the pictures of our 26 mile, 4 hour drive, 460' to 7500' elevation trip. It was in the mid 60's at the house and 33 at the top. Enjoy.

Its got 5.9L with the superchips. I read on that site but not registered. I read allot about the 6.7L and decided to get one of the last 5.9L. Seems silly to mess with tried and true.

Ditch that superchips and get the Smarty controller for that truck!!!

Great pics. I've got a Ford Explorer 4x4 that I started taking on offroad trails and then got bit by the fourwheeling bug bigtime. There's nothing like going places no one else can. I try to take at least one major trip each year and plan to go back to Colorado in 2008 to run several of the trails in the southwestern area of that state.

Arizona has some awesome trails to explore and I encourage you to keep on trying them out. There's a guy named Charles Wells that has written books on 4x4 trails and I believe he wrote one a year or two ago covering Arizona trails. Google his name and see if you can find that book and buy it.... it will give you many weekends of family fun and adventure. I remember taking one trail north of Phoenix - I believe it was called Crown King or something like that - and it took us way up in the mountains to a town that could only be accessed by 4x4 and was still straight out of the 1800's. It still had a real saloon. Unbelievable. Here's a view of the trail on the way up:

And here's a photo of main street in that town:

And Bill, yes there are many very scenic desert mountain areas in Arizona. Phoenix is flat as a pancake and looks exactly like how you would envision Arizona, but that first photo was taken about a one hour drive away from Phoenix. Pretty incredible, huh? Here's one of my favorite photos taken near Sedona; I wasn't exactly up in the highcountry yet but it also helps show that there's more to AZ than just flatlands and cactus.
