Alpha One Gen 2-won't engage reverse

remove the lower shift cable from the arm and using your thumb and index finger move it in and out.You should be able to have full fwd and rev by hand. Any tightness or binding means a new lower cable or corrosion in the shift mech.
Notice the grease , left dry this shaft can bind up and cause the shift interupt to activate

Did that from inside and full forward it binds a little going back to reverse. I think I'm going to have it changed. Both of them actually as I pulled both drives the the one that shifts fine has no outer core from transom to plastic guide. No idea what happened but I bet it was about to give me issues.

2 new cables going in. No messing around. I'll do both

Of course the threaded part fused to the housing and snapped now I had to stop the job and wait to try easy outs to remove the threaded part from the housing. Hope it works or I'll be drilling. This must happen often with the brass cable and aluminum housings.

Easy Outs Did The Trick. Should be smooth sailing now.
