my 84 26ft dancer,, 260 hp , my boats out for coming season,,on a budget, bought a slightly used alpha gimball housing on ebay ,old one badly pitted,,,pulling decent running engine to change rusty oil pan, install a fresh seat of heads that someone gave me, with 202 intakes,, i purchased a 14-1/2 by 22 deg SS prop,,would this prop cause to much stress on my single alpha???? pushing my old 26 ft,when i bring up the RPM's also doing some cam research , on lowering my torque range to midrange to turn this prop,,,,will the aplha handle torque ????Tim

You've got a lot going on there.

First, they Alpha's strength is fine for a small block, but the 14X22 prop is way to much for that boat/powerplant. You need something like a 15X17. My experience with a wide number of props in the 260 with a SB is that Mercury's Vengeance works very well.

Also, I would not go messing with the cam and heads. Alot of research went into the setup the factory sent out. These motors have cams and heads very specifically designed for the application.
