Used the Quiksilver outdrive oil in my Alpha 1 and still have some left. The shop gave me Mercury Gear Lube in a black bottle. Not planning to mix the two but if either will work then I will use up the Quiksilver this year. If not then I will be giving it away.

If they are labeled High Performance Gear Lube and blue/green in color they are the same thing. The silver Quicksilver labeled products are what you see at West Marin, Walmart etc, the black Mercury labeled products are what dealers get / sell. Same things, just different labels.

Premium Gear Lube is brown in color (looks like motor oil) is recommended for outboards < 75hp.
High Performance Gear lube is recommended for outboards over 75hp and sterndrives.

+1 Make sure it's the High Performance Gear Lube for the Bravo 3s

Thanks and will do. The Merc brand (black bottle) came from the local shop. The one in the silver bottle came from either WM or the local SR dealer that had several to choose from but they both say high performance

Merc or Quicksilver does not matter - that's just packaging based on where it is sold.

Bravo drives MUST use the Hi-Perf stuff. Alpha's and outboards can use the dino oil OR the synthetic.

What makes the high performance oil better and a MUST to use in a bravo drive?
