59.5 is my limit! Thats without a wetsuit. That's when official lake swimming begins. Even at that temp, you can get a nice ice cream headache if you are under too long!

If you are actually swimming at 50 degrees, you are nuts! As they say, you have a 50% chance of making it 50 yards in 50 degree water!

I usually start swimming each year, when it reaches 50 degrees. I'm not in for long obviously. maybe up to 2-3 minutes at a time. I get out, warm up, and head back in. I find it very refreshing. I think it's a mental block, but below 50, just seems like a completely colder temp and is not as enjoyable for me to swim in it (the ice cream headaches and limbs going numb happen much quicker)

On the other end, when the water gets up near 70, I find it like bath water, and not as refreshing, that's when I start diving deeper to get to the cooler temp water.
