Lake Wylie's water level continues to drop due to the extended drought as do all lakes along the Catawba River Basin. As a result, there isn't enough water left for boat launching at the public ramps and all of them will be closed this weekend except for one which only has two ramps. Low water levels are playing havoc in our Marina as well with more boats close to being grounded due to to very little water in the Marina. We have been carefully motoring in and out of the Marina all summer long with the outdrive trimmed up on our 260DA, but I am afraid our boating is done for now until we get some substantial rains. The lake has fallen another 1/2 foot this past week and that is just a bit too much to safely get our boat out anymore. I have about three and half feet of water in my slip right now. I need about 2 feet to keep the boat floating. I sure hope we don't loose that much more water or a lot of us will be in trouble with grounded boats.:smt100

I'm with you, Dave. I've got about four feet of water at my dock, but I'm afraid to take out the boat and possibly hit something or run my brand-new 260 SD aground. I may bring in the boat for winterization and storage next week. I'm trying to hold out, but it looks as though our boating season has come to an end. :(

There is no way for them to pull boats out now at LWM. The forklifts no longer have enough water left to operate. The only thing they can do is pull out at Nivens Creek on a trailer or come to your dock. If you need a pull out by trailer, you better have them do it now before it's too late.

Lake Murray came up about three inches with yesterday's rain. I'm guessing it will be up another inch or two by tomorrow.

Lake Wylie is up only 1.2 inches. :smt089:smt089:smt089:smt089

Charley........how much rain did you get in Columbia? We only got an inch here.:smt021:smt021

I heard on the news that this area was getting rain. If true, has this had any noticable affect on lakes levels?

We finally have gotten some meaningfull rain. Some lakes still have a long way to go but we are finally starting to fill up.

Here is where all the lakes along the Catawba stand right now. http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes/levels.asp At the rate things are going I may be able to relaunch in the next few weeks.

Come on rain. I need a little more than you Dave, I have to use the ramps. Unless Larry has some open slips, and I could get him to......well probably asking to much. Just keep praying for rain.

I did not know that. I'll take a ride and check it out. The ramp we have at our employee park is close, but I'd hate to get the boat in and not be able to get it back out! I watched a guy try to pull a cruiser out at Big Allison Creek and he tore up his trailer. The wheels dropped off the end of the ramp.

You know, one would think I'd know about that page because I work for them. It's only in my empolyee portal. I'm showing my intellegence hey. Thanks Dave.

Dave,

I was talking to our friends up at high rock and they said their water has been fine for a while now. I know it is on a different river and they are the first lake on that river chain but I was shocked to hear they have had normal water levels for a while now. We may try to head up there in a couple of weeks if we have a nice day just to run the boat for a little while. It has been nice to see the rain this morning, hopefully you will be back in the water soon!!!
