alhpa 1 drive problem #2

After being on th water for 10 hours yesterday stopped to gas up. As I put it into reverse, it went nowhere and instead made a whining, slightly grinding sound. Tried forward, and the same thing.
I thought maybe I spun a prop, but as soon as I started her up again after switching props, it made the same sound. Even when it wasn't in gear.
Any clues?

Sorry to say but it doesn't sound good. There was a similar thread in the past couple of days. It sounds like your engine coupler. Unfortunately this requires pulling the engine.

Thanks coralreefer. Got a call from the mechanic today and that is exactly what it was. Nothing like turning a fun day of fishing into a $1200 mess!
