My 210 Sundeck sits on a hoist in the marina, and one of the propeller blades sits in the water. I know I need to adjust the hoist so the lower end of the outdrive is out of the water, but have not done that yet. In the warm weather months I just trim up the outdrive when I am on the slip, but not during freezing nights. Boat has been stationary for 3 winter months, so that one blade has algae growth on it. Water is too cold to get in and scrub the algae off, and I cannot reach it from the swim platform either. Will that growth on one of the three blades mess up the balance of the blade and cause vibration that could damage the outdrive? Alpha outdrive.

Hi mperist,

While I personally have not experienced that as of yet, I can tell you I just bought a new 190 Sport with the Alpha One stern drive, and have been reading up in the Mercruiser manual the last few days - and it does talk of just that, it states to be sure the prop is clean of any growths on it as it could cause vibration and damage.

I would certainly say you would want the prop clean of that algae growth before you take it out...
