I am hoping I am able to explain my current situation well enough that someone out there can steer me in the right direction. I have a 2004 Mercruiser 5.0 MPI Bravo III. The boat has been running well all season. However, I am now getting two 1/2 second beeps every minute. The trim/tilt fluid was low at the time the alarm started. I topped the fluid level off and am not sure this has/had anything to do with the alarm, as the alarm continues despite filling the tilt/trim fluid level. The alarm sounds with 2 beeps when the boat is first started and continues every minute even after getting the boat on plane. There has never been a solid continuous beep alarm.

The gear lube reservoir is full. I thought it might be the IAC valve, but I am not having any idle problems, at least none that I have noticed. I disconnected the electric plug to the IAC valve, but continue to get the 2 beeps every one minute. Can anyone suggest what I might do next?

Smartcraft water pressure sensor is high on the list, as far as guessing. Getting the ECM read would be a preferred method for an answer

Scoflaw,

My water psi is reading 0.6 - 0.9 at idle. Is this too low? Would this cause the alarm in question?

The two beeps every minute means the engine is throwing off an error code. You will have to get it read. That will tell you what’s wrong.

OK..... I was trying to avoid pulling the boat out of the water and driving to the nearest mechanic that had an ECM reader ( not super close )..... so I thought I would start with the most obvious. I replaced the IAC and IAC muffler/filter and the problem is now corrected. Thank you to all who read and responded to this post. Happy boating!
