Changed the oil and lube on my 2001, 210 Signature, Bowrider. New boat to me, never had it in the water. Put muffs on and ran water to the outdrive. It doesn't appear to be taking the water and I have an alarm after about 15 seconds. Constant beep. My fuel gauge stays below empty, even though I put 10 gallons in. How many different things can cause this alarm? Way late to schedule service and I need to get it in the water. Help!!

Only a few things will cause an alarm, fuel isn't one of them. Since it's not taking water, that's your first step - separate the lower (assuming an alpha drive?) and change the impeller - use the full kit. If any blades are missing... start hunting... Oil/fuel coolers/t-stat housing

Thanks for your reply. I have an impeller kit, but didn't get a new housing. The impeller was changed in June of 2019, by a qualified marina. Should I try to find a housing?

Based on what you've stated, it sounds pretty bad. The housing might be fine - but you really won't know till you get in there. You can certainly wait and see - but sometimes it's best to start fresh, especially if there's any doubt.

Appreciate it, I'll get that lower removed in the morning.

On occasion a bump of the throttle at start up can turn the impeller just fast enough to start sucking from the hose. If your fins really are shot you have nothing to lose by trying.

I have had it happen numerous times where a rev up to 1500 or so did the trick. The fins sat all winter in the same laid over position. They may just need limbered up.

Thanks for the information, I have a replacement and will probably replace it, regardless. Really appreciate having people willing to offer their advice. My first boat and really paranoid about doing something stupid and costing myself a fortune.
